JSC, who is currently the toughest motherfucker in the sport of hockey? And if they have a shitty sounding name, who is the next toughest with the coolest sounding name?
I just picked up NHL2006 second hand from a games store and want a team full of tough motherfuckers with cool sounding names to lead me to Stanley Cup glory.

Bwahaha. Radek Bonk is junk. Actually, he was touted as one of the next great ones coming in from junior and was drafted 1st overall, and has been shitting the bed ever since.
As for tough guys, the toughest guy in the league in my opinion is Georges Laroque (EDM), but since he's french Canadian I'll name off some others with half-decent names you should get on your team.
- Tie Domi (TOR)
- Darcy Hordichuk (NAS)
- Zdeno Chara (OTT)
- Alexei Zhitnik (BUF) or (NYI)
There's some skill there but I'll let you know if I think of some more.

Radek Bonk is one of the very few hockey names I know. When I was younger, I used to collect sports cards and shit, but was never into Hockey. I pulled some sort of Radek Bonk autograph card out of a pack of Classic Four-Sports that was worth some money. This was the only reason I mentioned his name.

Yep, actually in 2006 he's on the free agent list so you can just pick him right up without having to trade. It's a fun game once you get in to using the special moves.
The best players I've found in that game are:
- Scott Hannan (SJ) - D-man flattens anything moving
- Robyn Regehr (CGY) - see above
- Jason Spezza (OTT) - young talented sniper centre
- Pierre Marc Bouchard (MIN) - an odd one, but you can get him cheap and he snipes like sonuvabitch
- Nikolai Zherdev (CBJ) - see Spezza
- Roberto Luongo (FLA) - young goalie of the future. You might have to sell the farm for him, but he's solid.
There's your new starting line.

Brad Stuart is definitely a top 4 defenseman and might turn out to be real good down the road, a team leader or maybe even the captain. Marco Sturm can be a 20-30 goal scorer who can probably fit in on the 2nd line (although I bet he'll be on 1st line). Wayne Primeau is a waste of oxygen and he should be castrated so he cannot contaminate the gene pool. He was 17th overall pick in '94 and to date has never reached double digits in goals in a season.
I'm fucking shocked that the Bruins would do this. Joe is the captain and a leader on that team. Not only that, but he was one of those guys who makes everyone around him better. Do you think that Knuble will be a 30 goal scorer without a 6'4" allstar dishing out passes to him? Or Samsonov will be able to be wide open because Thornton attracted 2 people to try to pry the puck off him? Joe has points in all, but 4 games this season. If the Bruins are sucking (and they definitely are) it was not because of lack of effort from Thornton. What a fucking waste. I'm disgusted. Thornton should have spent another 10-15 years in Beantown and had his jersey retired after he's done, and now because of a 10 game slide one season he's gone. If the Devils ever traded Brodeur because they struggled for a part of one season then I'd hunt down Lou Lamorello.

I'm uber excited to see us sign Thornton, but for a team that has been shitty defensively to give up their best defender....meh.
Sturm is a great scorer, he was leading the team last year until he broke his leg late into the season. So, the sharks didn't get THAT much better offensively, but they got a TON better in the leadership department I'd say.
Thorny and Marleau will be a great tandem.
We still need to get better defensively.
Maybe they aren't done trading yet...If they aren't they'd better stay the hell away from Marleau, or so help me god I will punch Doug Wilson square in the face next time I go to a Sharks game.
Should be interesting.

I'm very dissapointed to this trade. I agree what tak said about Marco Sturm and Wayne Primeau but Samsonov is still one of the best left wingers even without Joe.

given up on the Bruins. Ownership bites, and has been taking the fans to the cleaners for some time now. Jacobs has never made the cup a priority, and somehow, he's managed to dupe us into thinking that should be acceptable. I came to this realization about a week beforethis trade was made, and I still feel that way.
As for the trade itself: as much as the fans, the manegement, and coaching staff wanted it to be, Joe never really became that player he had the potential to be. Serious lack of consistancy and intensity. I'm sure we could have done better that Sturm, Stuart and Primeau, but Stuart is a real good d-man, Sturm looks to have some quicks, and Primeau showed up to the Garden with two black eyes, so the boston fans love him already.

It's from a couple games before the trade, he took a puck to the forehead, then got up and promptly shot that very same puck into the back of the net.
