I have bittorrent on my computer but for some reason I can't get any torrents to start downloading. It just stays at 0 kb/sec and 0% done. I'm trying to download the new Dave Barry movie and I've tried using a couple of different torrents. Can anyone help with this?

Most likely you need to open some ports on your router. Bittorrent uses 6881-6999 TCP. Most likely 6881-6889 would be sufficient. Forward those to your machine and make sure your firewall if you have one isn't blocking those ports either

This is my home computer. I'm hooked up with Comcast cable and I have Norton Internet Security for a firewall. No router

By "Help with torrents...." I meant "Someone else download it and then put it on YSI for me"

You should try Bit Comet for torrent program. Sometimes if you get a rare file that has no current seeders you won't get any action until the seeders connect. But you're used to getting no action so it shouldn't be a big deal.

How long is the torrent not DLing anything? Sometimes it takes up to 15 minutes for me to latch onto a seeder.

Otherwise, I think Crax is right on when he is talking about opening up some ports. As weird and complicated as it sounds, certain trackers need you to have certain ports designated for you to DL shit from them. For that, go here:

http://www.portforward.com/

This will give you step by step instructions on how to open up your ports to allow for easy BT access. Even a dumbfuck like me was able to figure it out by following the guides. When you open up that page, click on "Forwarding" to choose the brand of router you have and go from there.

Also for BT proggys, I like Bit Tornado

http://bittornado.com/

Real easy to use. Just click on the torrent link and it does everything for you.

When you get to know how to use Torrents more, try out µTorrent. It uses less resources on your PC and like the Azerus and ABC BT clients you can pick and choose what you want to DL if it is a multi file torrent.
