View Full Version : Shogun favored over Rampage
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua opens at -125 betting favorite over Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. After thinking to the trends of both fighters last few fights, I can't say I disagree.
GO SHOGUN!

Yeah I agree CHH. Rampages given previous track record of his last 3-4 fights is reason enough to make him the underdog.
Shogun always trains hard and also the fact BJJ guys ALWAYS give Rampage trouble..It all adds up.

This saddens me greatly. But, I think we are gonna see the Rampage that we are used to and like. I also think, if we see the shitty Rampage, we will have seen the last of him in Pride.
I think Shogun is about as much of a BJJ guy as Rampage is. After all, Rampage started his training career at BHJJC. But still, I think Shogun will take this. He always comes out in good condition and very aggressive.

Pride will keep Rampage reguardless of his proformance. WHY? The fans love him out there and his old persona. Plus he isnt going to get the same pay here in the US as out there.
I actually thought RUA would have much better ground/sub work than QUint would. So hmmph.

Shogun is kinda small isnt he??? If this fight ends up on the ground, its Ramps.
I think Shoguns aggressiveness is gonna be his undoing. Rampage aint bad at picking apart people. Wandy has just always been a bit to much and I dont think Shogun is there just yet

I think he will make the choice to leave, not be forced to. For some reason, it is like he feels alienated as of late. He feels he HAS to act a certain way and he isnt sure if he should or not.

Sad but true, man. I'm torn on this one. I love Rampage, but I almost feel he could be like Vitor was to me 5yrs or so ago. Every time I see him fight I hope he comes out like he used to but then he just disappoints me. I don't have anything against God, but being reborn just seems to ba bad for profighting careers.
I would hope Rampage wins, but on the other hand I don't ever see Shogun giving a lackluster performance in his career. What it comes down to for me is that I hope whoever trains the hardest and wants this the most wins.

"It's god will for me to fight." as Ramp says. He'll stay in Pride. Oratleast move to K-1 if anything.

I'm taking Rampage in this one. I'm just not ready to write him off yet. Despite appearing to be in pretty poor shape against Ninja, he still put on a pretty gutsy performance. Shogun is tough no doubt but I don't think he's THAT much better than his brother, at least not yet. Should be a pretty close match, too close to be putting any money on. Summing up, Rampage by decision.

Yeah, I agree. Rampage is going to have a big weight advantage, plus he is really going to want a dominant win. Either way, I think this could be fight of the night.

I like Shogun's style, he goes ball's to the wall's. the reason why he's where he is today is because of his fearless style. he's a little sloppy with his strikes, but they land. I don't think he'll have a chance to soccer kick or foot stomp Rampage in this fight, but I think he can do enough to win via JD or even a TKO in the later round

Shogun is definitely an exciting fighter, I love his style. Relentless would be a good word to describe it. I just don't think he's ready for Rampage yet, at least not a Rampage that comes in in good shape with proper preparation time.

I think Rampage is too strong for him, physically.

This will no doubt be a war, but I see Rampage coming out on top. I don't think Shogun has the skills Silva does to get Rampage in a situation to really capitalize on his knees. And yeah, Rampage is really strong, so most grappling encounters (aside from if Shogun gets his thai clinch) will likely go to Rampage.
this is one of those fights that you just dont gamble on. too close to call either way. either fighter can win this one. Rampage of old shows up, he wins. but he isnt the Rampage of old so we cant just assume this. its gonna be a damn good fight though.

Has anybody seen the video interview where Rampage explains why he came out flat against Ninja? He said that he was really dehydrated and he forgot to bring his replenishment to Japan.
I've got Rampage winning this one as he has more than enough time to prepare.
