MMAweekly is repoting that Guy Mezger has retired. The artcle goes on to say that he did have 2 strokes and that is what kept him from fighting Tito at UFC 50. His doctors belive the strokes could have been caused by taking Vioxx.

The article said he's not ruling out fighting ever again, but right now it ;ooks like it's time to hang up the gloves.

Not sure how it works but it is taken for arthritis.

that sucks, but hey, he had a great career, and if continuing means possible death, then it just isnt worth doing anymore. he had some memorable fights.

Agreed, let's just hope he recovers and can work as a trainer or something.

his school is still up and running - in fact he just opened another one. He's not in bad shape at all.

Vioxx is an anti-inflamitory..........every time I used to go to my doctor for knee problems she'd hand me a handful of it. Sucks to be me.

i like how they had a black guy play the role of dibiase's whipping boy. subtle racism at it's best.

damn that's a harsh indictment. that's almost as bad as comparing him to kcb and foruming.

actually, his name Virgil comes from Virgil Runnels aka Dusty Rhodes. the WWF took a pot shot at Dusty by coming up with this character....like Vincent in WCW/NWO
