In episode 2 they shot a polar bear, and the black kid had just read about one in a comic book. I'm getting flashbacks from "The Sphere" (one helluva movie).

Is the show just different stories of people being lost?

Nah, the show is about a plane crashing and most of the people surviving and being trapped on a 'deserted' Isle. Each show deals with stuff on the Island with flashbacks about one of the survivors. Each one has had a pretty cool story. Lots o' twists and turns. Like my small intestine.

Plotline appears to be simple, but they throw a lot of different things into the mix.
