Okay, Just wanted to get a thread going about this and also express some sadness for my fave college team.

I attended the University of Nebraska. It is a great school that USED to have a great football program. They are one of the greatest dynasties in football history. After Tom Osbourne retired, they hired Frank Solich. Who, at the time was a pretty darn good coach. He was NOT Tom Osbourne, but then again, NOONE will ever be. He lead the team to 1 national title and several Big 12 titles. But, he had one bad season..
His last..
They fired Frank Solich because they expected him to be Tom Osbourne. They hired some guy from Oakland Raiders. I dont even know the poon's name. I do know that Nebraska has always been known for their "smash mouth" approach to football. They run the option and the defense beats the "horseshit" out of the other team. Well, this guy decides to come in and change everything. A more "strategic" defense and for some odd fucking reason, he completely changed their style of offense. Nebraska is an option team. They have been for 50 or 60 years. ALWAYS The recruiting for the past 10 years has been based around that style of play. This guy starts and decides that it is NOT good enough. This style of play from this school has made them one of the most dominant schools in history. Then, here comes this joker on a power trip and completely changes everything. Leading Nebraska to the most embarrasing season they have ever had. I don't even know if they were 500.
In closing...
Hats off to the team and I hope that one day they return to glory.

Your thoughts on your teams....

I'm also a Husker fan and I have to disagree with you Rick. Frank was not the right guy for the job, he wasn't getting it done. His recruiting sucked, his player development sucked, his strength and conditioning program went to shit and he was awful at being the OC. I like Frank the person, but the man was killing the team as HC. With Callahan comes the WCO, that is the only offense he knows. You can't teach the option when you don't know anything about it. I'm not convinced that he will be the savior of the Huskers, but I do know he and his staff are excellent recruiters and recruiting is the foundation of all great programs. We are at least headed in the right direction in that aspect. I am also convinced that if Callahan doesn't prove fit for the job Pederson will make another change as he apparently isn't too worried about being popular with Nebraskans and Nebraska fans. I respect that about him and I am excited about the future of Husker football. Have faith, we will be back at the top eventually.

Well, since I live in Texas I caught a little after the Rose Bowl. But for the most part, no. Can't catch too much shit when they're winning the Big 10.

Yeah, I meant about living in TX, not about being a fan in general.

Nothing much going here. Just trying to kill time like evryone else. They signed a very good class, now I hope that the coach's can coach. How did Michigan's recruiting go? I can't wait for football to get going again.

Same here, trying to kill Wednesday.

Michigan had a good class, Rivals ranked it as the sixth best. Got a good RB and some big WR's would've liked another DB or 2 but, who wouldn't?

Do you really think that this guy can pull everything together and within 2 or 3 years get them back on top?

Losing Norm Chow, Tim Davis, and Ed Oregron is going to hurt. But my goodness, I think this Trojan team could compete in the NFL.

After last year it is hard to say what this staff is capable of. So many things went wrong last year that it is hard to judge. We will know more after this year what Callahan's coaching abilities are. I do know that he is a great recruiter and has surrounded himself with other great recruiters, which is already an upgrade from Solich imo. We should be better this year because we will have a secondary that wants to play. We will have a qb that can actually hit a wide open receiver and our linebackers won't be slower than Maurice Clarett. :D
