Anyone watch it? Specifically the ESPN show. I love that stuff. 100x better to watch than NBA. And these guys have serious skills besides those fancy trick. They don't constantly shoot up bricks like some pro players out there.... But for those who haven't seen it, definitely check it out. Best dunkers out there on that show, seriously.

Some NBA talent comes out of there. Rafer Alston aka "Skip 2 my lou" was on that series before going to the NBA

yeah but not enough. NBA, like most people, sneer and stick up their noses at these "street ballers, just a few miscreants on the blacktop". But if u seriously check them out, besides their handles (which by the way can help make buckets and not just look nice) they can shoot and pass like the best of the NBA.

If a high school kid can make it in the NBA, then they should take a closer look at places like Rucker instead of the usual snot nosed spoiled college kids.

Problem is the streetballers are notorious for being "me" first. They pass only to get an assist next to their name. They won't pass the ball and set a pick to free someone up.

i like streetball, but i think streetball is ruining the game for kids all over the world. i see kids who can't even dribble properly trying to put the ball thru the defender's legs, they need to learn the fundamentals first.

and then you'll see kids who can dribble better than any college level player out there. The Suns have a somewhat streetball style game, w/ the fast run and gun instead of plodding picks all the time. Most NBA players can't even do a crossover and only post up, that's it. Anyway, Maz Boxe, u have any season 3 stuff? I have the season 2 DVD and i wish they'd put out season 3 DVD.

i love and1, but there's a reason most of them never make it to the nba. several of them have said it themselves, the nba is the best of the best and they just aren't good enough. look at rafer alston, he is generally considered "the micheal jordan of streetball" amd he's just a slightly above average point guard in the nba. most of those guys can dribble the ball behind their back and off their opponents head, but they can't make a textbook pass. and the reason they make so many shots is simply because nobody plays defense, they're too busy saving their energy for the next time they get the ball so they can make some flashy play.

It's fun to watch but what they are is an entertainment business, and not a sporting business. That is they're specialty and their job so you can't really compare them to the NBA because it's strictly about the entertainment value, and not winning. Even though some of them might have some of those skills, they wouldn't make it in the pros on them alone. basically like 1 trick ponies

Being flashy or having good handles doesn't make them a good player, why would you need to do a crossover if you got a good low post game if you are a bigman? hardly any streetballers made it into NBA, skip is the only one i know. headache had a run with the knicks at the beginning of the season before getting dropped. and what tak said too.

and NBA players aren't 1 trick ponies? Dirk Nowhatisname is a 7 footer who can't dunk or jump, can only shoot. Shaq=dunks. Bibby=shooting (some passing and dribbling but nothing above average). Only a few like Iverson, Kobe, and LeBron can do more than one thing well and are actual fully developed players. Alot of it has to do w/ rules too. U can barely do anything before its called a foul. U can't do the same stuff on the blacktop b/c they'll call a stupid foul on everything. That's why "organized" ball has been reduced to pick and rolls.

It's just that NBA nowadays can be so mind numbingly boring. Bums like Yao Ming w/ no skills is a dominant player. He's 7 fucking foot 6. Anyone of us on this board could put up numbers like him or even better if we were that freakishly tall.

but the problem is that the NBA one trick ponies are the best in the world at what they do, and that means they usually help the team win. being able make the defender look for the ball when it isn't there might be fun to watch, but it doesn't help the team wins in terms of basketball. do you think streetballers would give up millions of dollars just to get some street cred if they could make it in the NBA?

of course not. But NBA scouts, like most of u, dont' look twice at ballers at Rucker or whatever and only look at snot nosed college students. B/c i guess its impossible to find talent on the streets and only in spoiled thieving universities....... Anyway, i'm not a big fan of basketball anyway b/c imo, its the most unfair sport out there. Reminds me how much i luv boxeo.

i guess that's the reputation of streetball, look at hot sauce. most of his moves wouldn't be legit in a real game cuz of all them are carrying, but i am sure if someone's talented enough to be in the NBA they'd probably make it. anyway people that likes streetball should check out The Notic dvd or their site at http://www.thenotic.ca

seriously kamehameha, i don't think you know what you're talking about. there isn't some evil plan set up by the nba to not let streetballers play. they just aren't nearly as good as you think, many of them try out for nba teams and they just don't have the skills to play in the nba. and your claims that nba all-stars are "one trick ponies" is laughable.

who would you guys say has the best chance at the NBA right now? (and1 guys). I say Alimoe, the guy has legit skills to me and I think he has had workouts with nba teams in the past. 2nd would be 50, the two battled and it was a good game.

i'm in college. fuckin' thieving bastards. Drain money from u at every opportunity and treat frats/sortiority/athletes like gods and everyone else like shit. Plus mine is putting in some new bullshit regulations so i'm especially pissed at them, but all colleges follow the same stupid ass trend.

Hey guys, here is that 50 vs Alimoe battle I mentioned. Alimoe shows his prison side a bit in the start (yikes). Basically, he calls out 50 in his own building. It is a good matchup until Alimoe starts hitting his long jumper. btw, tak, what would you do in 50's situation so as not to get your ass kicked?

the link doesn't work for me but 50 looks and acts like the dumbest man alive when he's not on the court, i remember watching one and1 mixtape where AO had him dressing up in funny clothes and said it was cool, 50 believed him.

They are all either 7'6'' or 7'7'' and Yao is miles better than any of them in terms of all around production.

yeah, on the access dvd, Alimoe starts ripping on him for being stupid, saying stuff like 50 must be his i.q. and you can't even count to 50. I'm a tell you how stupid you are, you don't even got a 50" vertical, 50 minus 7!, haha. Everyone was laughing and he was about to cry.

anyway here is a working link to the battle.

the battle they had at halftime in Dallas was pretty lame. Decent in spots, I guess. I wanted to strangle the guy that's on-court with the mic. I personally think AO has the best all-around game.

yeah he has a nice shot, but i was hoping to see them getting to the rack. but maybe it's cuz all them and1 players play each other all the time that their moves won't work on each other, or simply cuz it's more effective just shooting jumpers.

I thought it was universally accepted that "The Bone Collector" has the best handles in Streetball. I know the NBA players think so, I've got an EBC 2 DVD where he schools Jamaal "The Abuser" Tinsley.

that video kinda summarizes why streetballers don't make it in the nba. he's good at looking flashy and playing keep away with people he meets on the street, but throughout the whole video he makes one basket.
