Who would you want to see go into the 170 or 205+ TUF 2 groups?

Olaf gaining 15 lbs to go to 170 would be interesting for sure.

As far as Heavies go... I expect a MFS guy like Ben Rothwell thrown in the mix.

I'd love to see Eddie Alverez from Philly Fight Factory get in there but there is no way that boy is making it to 170 for the show.

I wish I had more contact or knowledge of smaller show's fighters. Who is the guy that fought Olaf? Could we see him maybe?

Jonathan Goulet.

I'll second Rothwell and include John Wiezorek, and even though hes probably too big, Eric Pele.

I convinced my buddy Rob MacDonald to apply for HW. He is actually up to 250-260 now.

Jonathan Goulet.

I think Jon is set to fight in the UFC anyways. They said his last fight was his UFC tryout match.

I wonder if any guys will not go up to the UFC right now (if given the chance) just for the opportunity of getting on the show and winning season 2 or 3.

you would think so, because the money would be better that way.

I'd just like them to do a little more searching, they found some great guys for #1 but guys like Thacker are ust sad to watch.

imagine like, Jimmy Ambriz dropping to 260 to do this. that would be awesome cause hes real good for a heavy fighter.

who do you think the coaches will be?
do you think they will chose a ufc fighter from each division, or two of the same?

I can see Mir as one of the coaches, maybe Trigg as the other???

If the Chuck/Randy rematch does big numbers they very well could decide to put 2 fighters that will be facing each other in there again. It's a great way to build interest for a PPV.

Wiezorek has already been in the UFC so he is out.

I say Brandon Vera would be a good pick. But I think his real future is at 205. I think they may have a hard time finding 8 legit heavies to make a good show. I have a feeling there will be some real "raw" talent in there.

I think they sould open the show to one and dones as well.

I would like to see Keith Wisniewski in the WW div or Heath Pedigo, if he can move up to 170. As for the HW's I can't say. It is a funny thing, I have been to shitload of smaller MMA shows, some have been very small shows and some have been decent B level shows like Hook-n-Shoot or Ironheart Crown events, but I have never seen a decent HW fighter at any of these events. The ones that I have seen have either had no stamina or no skill, and just look like they did not have any place in the ring.

I know this may sound lame, but maybe they should tap into the pro wrestling talent pool for HWs. That seems to be where the majority of big, athletic guys are these days. Lesnar would be a good draw and $100k might be enough incentive for him to consider it. There's lot's of other guys that are less popular too.

Wasn't Shannon Briggs considering going into MMA? Winning TUF could possibly mean more money for him.

They should also make Gannon go through TUF to see if he's deserving of fighting in the UFC.

Michael Westbrook would be good. he went for the PRIDE tryouts. why not go for this one. he has a grappling background, and is big and strong from being a former pro wide reciever. he also has the name from NFL, being a former probowl player.

They should make Sherk an automatic finalist for WW. They can have the 7 other guys duke it out to see who fights him. Seeing anybody else get a big contract like that but Sherk is going to be disappointing.

Speaking of Sherk, does anybody know what happened w/ JOB's petition?

Briggs trains with American Top Team, and they all say he is ready to step into MMA at any time, but he hasnt yet. i know he fought K-1 rule, and he hated, and i mean HATED being kicked in the legs. thats straight from Tom Eriksons mouth, and he doesnt leg kick good! so i dunno if we would see him in MMA if he is tacky with shit like that. thats why he dropped out of the fight with Gary BADridge and hasnt been seen since.

If Chuck manages to beat Randy they could just let them coach again to set up the tie-breaker. It doesn't look like there will be any LHW title defenses anytime soon as it is, since there's no contenders.

Otherwise I'd like to see maybe Miletich and Frank Shamrock. Get a couple guys that were champs, have retired, but are still busy training fighters.

Ryan Schultz and Thomas Denny for 170.

Too bad Matt Horowich and CHael Sonnan are LHW. Either of those guys deserved a shot before most of the guys on TUF 1. I suppose they didn't want to stack too heavy with Team Quest guys, but both of these guys were more deserving than Leban.

damn you are barely seeing what i wrote of Briggs. heh. BADridge has pretty decent leg kicks now from the K-1 training, so i dont know about all that. if he could avoid Briggs bombs he could legkick to a TKO.

I think Oliver was right though, while they use 2 experienced trasiner they also used them as a marketing plan to build familiarity for a main event. They don't necessarily have to be the same weightclass as the fighters either as seen with Randy and Chuck.
I would think a Trigg and Hughes coaching duo would be interesting, and it's too bad that Arlovski doen't speak a lick of english since they could use him and Mir. What about a Lindland or Tanner vs. Franklin combo?

What about a Lindland or Tanner vs. Franklin combo?

I think those guys will be mixing it up in some fashion sooner than that. That's their toughest div snd they will want to keep the action going so Tanner will be due for a title defense by 54 at the latest IMO. Franklin probably won a title shot by beating Ken and since he already has a nice TKO over Tanner anyhow. If Lindland has an impressive fight w/ Lutter they will probably make him fight the winner of Salaverry/Riggs for the next in line.

Actually, I started this post thinking those guys couldn't be coaches, but the more I think about it the more I agree w/ you. Depending on when they start filming TUF 2, if my little scenario above for future fights pans out (UFC 54 probably being in August[?]), we could see Tanner/Franklin coaching against Lindland/Riggs/Salaverry...even Lutter. If I was making TUF 2, I would include guest appearnaces by other fighters.

If Lutter was coaching we could get Ken on there. Salaverry could bring on Tito or even better....Barnett. Lindland of course has Randy. Horn could be Franklin's assistant coach. Alright...sorry. I'm just drunk and thinking on my keyboard.

Franklin will take another solid 185 fight imo then go for gold.
