He has signed a pro contract with Frank Warren and will be going pro after one last amateur bout coming up in the next month or so.

I understand his reasoning for going pro but why did he have to sign with a tool like Frank Warren? That just means his career is going to go nowhere fast

I guess we'll never get to see him in the US except for treasured bootlegs. What a sham.

Well he's going to make a lot of money out of it, and that'll be good for him for the first few years. Then he's gonna have a lot of fun beating up scrub opponents to the delight of novice boxing fans who will be satisfied by this kind of junk.
Ah well, we should actually be able to see him on TV though, Warren isn't as bad as people think he is when it comes to promoting a fighter. They do get a lot of press, in boxing terms that is.

It's all about the Benjamins or in Amirs case, the Elizabeths.

I dont understand the ins and outs of pro boxing to be able to comment about this, but a friend of mine says that he isnt really ready for the step up and should of spent a few more years gaining experience before he took it to the next level, I didnt see the logic or reasoning behind this as I thought it made sense to try and get big as early on in your career as possible. But now in some respects I see where he is coming from and feel that maybe this wasnt the best decision for Khan to make so early on in his career and at such an early age.
Good luck to him.

hes good, better than most, so its rite for him to go pro early, whether this is too early and warren is lookin to get quids in on his fame is the question at hand

He said he hadn't gone pro when he was at the ABA championships a couple of weeks ago.

I'm pretty excited at the prospects of him fighting as a pro. I really can't make any kind of appraisal of him til I see how he looks against a grown man throwing to finish him and not just "score". I'm looking forward to it.

I think it's all over for him once he turns pro.

How old is he now and why do you think he stands a poor chance of developing into a topflight pro? Physical maturation and a little tutoring on the niceities of pro boxing might make a difference.

I think he's either 18 or 19, he looked good in the Olympics but he's already been dropped before. It's just the nature of the British and the Olympics, as soon as it comes around you have the whole country backing some randomer and making a bigger deal out of somebody than their actually worth. Funny thing is no one gives a shit about Khan anymore, no-one really knows what's he's doing right now and no one really cares.

Ultimately it doesn't matter if he's supported OUTSIDE the ring. Inside the ring, why do you not like him? Do you see a lack of potential? I only remember one or two of his fights in the Olympics and never could catch an entire fight of his.
