they need to do something drastic to keep Evander from hurting himself. Damn, everyone likes the man (even if he was overrated) i haven't met someone who hated Holyfield. But for chrissakes, strap the man down, revoke everything u can, and retire him! This is just ridiculous. He won't give in to the fact he's past his time until he's shaking and drooling from a wheelchair.

i hate this conundrum. the guy by all means should retire, even if he doesnt want to. its in his best interest, and a fool could see that. on the other hand, do you want to tell a grown man that he, because we the people feel, that cant do what it is he loves, what he does better than anything else in the world, what makes him different from the pack. its a fucked up situation, but i say let him fucking go. he knows for a fact what is waiting for him later in life, make no mistakes. i just dont think you can tell a man that he cant do something like that, he isnt harming anyone but himself(as evidenced in his last fight or 2). then again, what the fuck do i know?

Im hoping for a double KO to end the careers of these two old men. I dont care much if they fight on and do damage to themselves but Im sick of hearing about it. Neither is a contender or is anywhere near being great anymore.

Good god no. Holyfield should never be allowed back in a ring. He is almost at Ali's speech level as is

Sadly - this fight probably will happen. In this age of celebrity boxing and heavyweight draughts, this fight will happen.

regardless of this fight... I'm begining to think the Evander story will not end well.

that's pretty cold man. I understand that we all are sick of hearing about Evander trying to get back and Tyson too, but I'm worried about Evander as a person, a father and husband. The man has had a great run, and forget this stuff about "oh well, it's his choice and who are we to tell him what to do?", he obviously isn't thinking straight and doesn't know what the hell is good for him. Hang 'em up Evander, b/c more fans than not care if u get fucked up and join Ali in the land of broken and beaten dinosaurs.

Yeah, I've been thinking that about Evander for a long time. Damn, why doesn't a family member intervene and tell his ass enough is enough. The man is a warrior through and through so he'll be fighting till the docs tell him he can't.

Then he'll probably go to a foreign country and fight.

Meh...so many people, it seems, have let themselves worry entirely too much about the Real Deal's health. He's going to fight for as long as he feels like it, no matter what actions are taken by others to prevent it. And it's important to realize that the more everyone rallies for his retirement, the more indignant he's going to become--he'll want to prove them wrong (just like he was able to do a few times back in the day), and his desire to fight on will grow.

Even if he's not permitted to box in NV, NJ, and most other states, he'll just do what Aaron Pryor did 15 years ago--the Hawk came to Wisconsin, where he knew that this state's joke of an athletic commision would have no problem allowing a horribly washed-up, blind-in-one-eye fighter with a recognizable name to get in the ring. Of course...Aaron's opponent was a no-hope, former sparring partner of his, and Pryor mopped the floor with him.

If he finds himself in a position where he can't get liscensed in any of the states, he'll do what Tyson did a few years ago--take a tour of Europe to fight the Brian Nielsens and Lou Savareses.

Holyfield has everything you could ask for--fortune, fame, etc. Nobody should be concerned about whether or not he'll be all right. There are a lot of self-destructive individuals in the world, and most of them aren't millionaire celebrities. Nothing good can come from trying to reason with a stubborn person, I don't think, so we really shouldn't sweat it.

Its not NEARLY as bad as what Meldrick Taylor was allowed to do. I just don't wanna see Bowe-Holy IV or Tyson-Holy III

A man lives by his decisions. Evander wants to carry on so let him. He's aware of the consequences.
