I couldnt' figure out why he was such an underdog... Miletich has a great team, but the guy has problems with BJJ. He's one of what, two people on theplanet to ever tap to a bulldog?

I've always considerd Renzo the best of the Gracies because he actually fights top guys and puts his skills on the line. He's always been a great fighter who has the ability to beat anyone he faces, I don't know anything about what happened, but Renzo probably pushed the action to Miletich, something Pat's never been too fond of. I'm really happy that Renzo got the W.

Yeah so was I. Earlier this year he did a seminar at Gracie Barra then Mundials now on the IFL card. I wonder how he looked?

No, and that's probably not a good sign. But looking at his record he seems to be alright. Although whenever he stepped up in competition it seems he lost. And he had alot more experience than Feitosa... so that probably factored into too.

He should have lost his fight last night. The judges gave him a gift.

The same thing goes for Dennis Hallman. So many robberies and the police did nothing...

I'm just amazed people disrespected Renzo so badly. He went the distance with Penn in his last fight. He hasn't been finished since Henderson. Pat's protege's success clouded people view of his place in the sport.

Washed up might be too extreme. I think Renzo was a good match up, considering both had been inactive for a bit. I'd love to see Pat in there again, maybe another go at Newton whose been away for a while. We'll see if Carlos still has some bulldog chokes up his sleeve.

How was Pat v Renzo?

It started like I expected and then Renzo secured a standing guillotine with his back leaning against the ropes. At first, he didn't have it sunk in but then he re-adjusted himself and out went Miletich.

The event overall was awesome.

Here's NHB- PBP for the event. Check out his wrap-up on the front page.

The MARK of the Quad Cities in Moline, Illinois was the place for action
this past Saturday night. The reason? Pat ''The Croation Sensation''
Miletich was set to make his return to the ring against Renzo Gracie.
Thousands of people filled the MARK as Renzo Gracie's Pitbulls were set to
take on Miletichs' Silverbacks in team competition. While the other
tournament brackett pitted Carlos Newton's Dragons versus Frank Shamrock's
Razorclaws.

Preliminary bouts: Delson Heleno vs Ben Uker

The action started right away in this bout as Heleno and Uker came out
trading. Heleno was being quite the aggressor and took the fight right to
Uker. About 3 minutes into the action Heleno started working some great
ground and pound that prompted the referee to call an end to the fight.
Delson Heleno Wins by TKO(ref stoppage) at 3:14 of the 1st round.

Dennis Hallman vs Jeff Quinlan

The second preliminary bout was fought at a much different pace than the
first bout. As Hallman and Quinlan squared off it was clear that Hallman
needed to make this a ground fight as he was handling himself much better
there. Quinlan survived an early onslaught of submission attempts by Hallman
as Dennis had Quinlans back for a good portion of the fight. Quinlan made a
comeback attempt and worked some good ground and pound and was able to stand
up out of Hallman's guard. Several times throughout the fight Hallman layed
in a butt scoot position with Jeff kicking at his legs before the inevitable
stand-up. Going to the cards after the third and final round the Judges gave
a majority decision to Dennis ''Superman'' Hallman much to the chagrin of
the crowd.
Hallman Wins by Majority Decision

Pitbulls vs Silverbacks Team Competition:

Bart ''Bartimus'' Palaszewski(Silverbacks) vs Marcio Feitosa(Pitbulls)

Early on in this fight Marcio took it to the ground where he controlled the
Silverback's lightweight with good positioning, ground and pound, and
submission attempts. Bartimus held his own on the ground and defended well
against Feitosa's attempts and won the majority of the stand-up exchanges in
the first two rounds. Going into the third Feitosa was up 2-0 in most
peoples mind but Palaszewski made a terrific fight of it dominating the
entire third round and putting the fight into the hands of the judges. The
score cards were read to the crowd and the judges gave Bartimus a split
decision victory. Palaszewski wins by Split Decision after 3 rounds of
action.

Rory Markham(Silverbacks) vs Marcelo Azevedo(Pitbulls)

Markham was the clear favorite going into this fight with two impressive IFL
performances already he looked for a third. The fight started off quickly
as Markham came in aggressive looking to trade. The fight soon went to the
mat where Azevedo went for a heel hook as the fighters rolled across the
ring. Markham worked his way out of the attempt but lost position when
Azevedo gained side control while Markham's hometown fans looked on. Markham
powered out of the bad position and got back to his feet launching himself
into Azevedo's guard and throwing punches in bunches that put Azevedo into a
daze and the ref stepped in with little time remaining on the clock. Rory
Markham wins by TKO(Strikes) at 3:58 of the first round.

Fabio Leopoldo(Pitbulls) vs Ryan McGivern(Silverbacks)

With the Silverbacks leading 2-0 in the team competition Ryan McGivern made
an attempt to seal the victory for his team when he faced off with Fabio
Leopoldo. The first round started with McGivern using sprawl and brawl
tactics keeping the Jiu-jitsu fighter on his feet where he was at a
disadvantage. Half way through the round the fight went to the floor where
McGivern got himself caught in a guillotine choke but was able to pop his
head out and throw some punches. McGivern did some great work passing
Leopoldo's guard and mounting the jiu-jitsu fighter and tried to end the
fight with the first round coming to an end. The second round started much
the same way as the first with Leopoldo trying to get McGivern to the ground
where he could attempt submissions. With about a minute and a half left in
the 2nd round the crowd was shocked as Leopoldo locked out a knee-bar that
made the Miletich fighter tap out soon after. Fabio Leopoldo wins by
Submission(Kneebar) at 2:49 of the second round.

Andre Gusmao(Pitbulls) vs Mike Ciesnolevicz(Silverbacks)

After a grueling first round with the fighters landing shots on one another,
Gusmao comes out in the second round and ends the night for Ciesnolevicz
with a series of strikes. That put the teams in a 2-2 tie with the
heavyweights coming up next. Gusmao wins by TKO(Strikes) at 1:02 of the
second round.

Ben Rothwell(Silverbacks) vs Bryan Vetell(Pitbulls)

This fight was the tiebreaker and would decide the fate of the teams.
Rothwell was heavily favored going into this fight and it didn't take long
to see why. Rothwell came out swinging and had Vetell on defense from the
start. Using his brute strength and ring experience Rothwell bullied Vetell
around the ring landing punches to Vetell while he was backed into the
corner. It didn't take much longer for Big Ben to find his range and land
the big right hand that sent Vetell crumbling to the canvas. Ben Rothwell
Wins by KO(Punch) at 3:17 of the first round.

Silverbacks beat the Pitbulls in team competition 3-2 sending them into the
next round.

Team Competition: Dragons vs Razorclaws

Josh Odom(Razorclaws) vs Rob Di Censo(Dragons)

Another action packed LW fight, who would've thought? I was impressed by
two things in this fight, Odom's stand-up ability and Di Censo's heart. I
was able to tell from the beginning that Odom had the superior striking and
he used it landing a series of kicks and punches throughout the first round
with Di Censo firing counter punches but not being nearly as effective as
Odom. The second round was more of the same with Odom being the aggressor
and stalking Di Censo around the ring. After the first two rounds Odom came
out in the third and was able to put Di Censo down with just over two
minutes remaining. Josh Odom wins by TKO(Strikes) at 1:47 of the third and
final round.

Claude Patrick(Dragons) vs Ray Steinbeiss(Razorclaws)

Next up was the welterweight match-up. Following an action packed fight
these two didn't let the pace of the night slow down a bit. They both came
out looking to be aggressive with Claude Patrick getting the better of
Steinbeiss by securing a guillotine choke late in the first round to force
the tap. Patrick earned the first IFL win for the Dragons and also the first
victory lap in IFL history. Claude Patrick wins by Submission(guillotine
choke) at 3:17 of the very first round.

Brian Foster(Razorclaws) vs Joe ''El Dirte'' Doerkson(Dragons)

Coming off a solid win over Dustin Denes, Foster looked to get another
upset victory and take out UFC veteran Joe Doerkson. Coming out throwing
Foster was getting the better of Doerkson in the early going controlling the
crafty fighter on the ground and getting in some good punches, while
Doerkson worked his guard. After getting back to their feet the Canadian
fighter struck back landing a flurry of punches and forcing Foster back into
the ropes. Round two was not as easy as the first for Foster when Doerkson
took over the fight and dominated on the ground. After mounting Foster,
Doerkson rained down punches before Foster gave his back and Doerkson
secured a rear naked choke. Joe ''El Dirte'' Doerkson wins by
Submission(Rear naked choke) at 3:40 of the second round.

Raphael Davis(Razorclaws) vs Brent Beauparlant(Dragons)

Fight of the night, hands down. These guys went at it for all three rounds,
letting their hands fly. Back and forth action with Beauparlant winning the
stand-up, but every time Davis looked like he was done for he came back with
his own combinations and fought his way out of trouble. The second round was
almost a carbon copy of the first, both fighters landing punches standing
with Beauparlant winning more of the exchanges and doing damage from side
control. At one point the Canadian fighter took Davis' back and executed a
picture perfect German suplex, which put him in position to do more damage
to Davis on the ground. I dont know how, but these two gathered up the
energy to come out for the third round and again, another high paced round
with Beauparlant getting the better of Davis, but Davis was able to answer
back with his own strikes and do damage to Beauparlant. Going to the cards
it was pretty obvious that Brent Beauparlant would take home a decision, and
he did. Brent Beauparlant wins by Unanimous Decision.

Travis Wiuff(Razorclaws) vs Wojtek Kaszowski(Dragons)

With the Dragons taking the victory for their team, Travis Wiuff came out
fighting for pride. Wiuff rushed out of his corner and took Kaszowski down
which is where the majority of the fight would take place. Grinding out all
three rounds from top position Travis Wiuff demonstrated great ground
control and dominating wrestling over the Polish fighter. Without an answer
for Wiuff's takedowns Kaszowski spent the duration of the fight on his back
with Wiuff occasionally looking for a key-lock, or arm-bar. At this point a
huge round of applause came from the audience as someone had yelled ''MATT
HUGHES WON!!'' and shortly after the bell rang and the fight was over with
Wiuff earning a Unanimous Decision. Travis Wiuff wins by Unanimous
Decision.

Superfight

Renzo Gracie(Pitbulls) vs Pat ''The Croation Sensation''
Miletich(Silverbacks)

And now, the main event. After getting word that his top fighter Matt Hughes
had won, Miletich looked for his own victory. The crowd was in full support
of Miletich and MFS, as the fighters were announced the fans voiced their
displeasure for Renzo Gracie and their all out support for Pat Miletich.
With everybody in attendance on their feet the fighters met in the middle of
the ring for the first round. The fight started with both fighters trying
to find their range, firing low kicks and jabs. After about a minute of
circling and feeling one another out, Gracie shot in on Miletich but his
takedown was defended well as Miletich sprawled and got back to his feet.
The fighters then clinched in the corner and bounced knees off each others
legs and midsections. After the referee seperated the two they once again
met in the center of the ring and clinched before Miletich forced Gracie
into the ropes. Within seconds of being forced to the ropes Gracie was able
to jump guard and secure a guillotine choke on the hometown legend. Knowing
that Miletich would not give up from his current position Gracie released
his guard and readjusted his choke and once again jumped guard. With the
situation not looking good for Miletich the crowd started the chant of ''GO
PAT GO!''. The chant wouldn't last long as Miletich tapped out soon after
and the Gracie team swarmed into the ring to celebrate. Renzo Gracie wins
by Submission(Guillotine choke) at 3:37 of the first round.

What weight did they fight at? Looks like 185. Pat looks really soft in those pics. He has no business fighting at 185.

Renzo asked for it to be at 185 and Pat agreed, so yes it was 185...

Kilroy is right, it was at 185. No matter though, Pat announced he is forever retired now after the fight was over, and the reason he didnt bring Renzo to the ground and stayed standing was he didn't believe his neck could support Renzo's weight for the takedown and didnt want to really injur himself.

Also, Delson Heleno connected a sweet flying knee before he followed his opponent to the ground and finished with punches. I was moving positions during this fight so I didnt see what happened.

That knee was vicious. You can hear the 'pop' when it connected.
