View Full Version : Yoshida: I will use strikes to take out the king of strikers!
http://www.nikkansports.com/ns/battle/bt-050420-3.jpg
in an interview recently conducted, yoshida proclaimed that he "will use strikes to take out the king of strikers!"
Yoshi's new Muay Thai trainer, out of Australia, is stating Yoshi's striking has improved 200% since beginning training, and has a good base for striking from his judo stance. No name on the trainer, but he is 36yo out of Australia.
Yoshi better be trying the mindgames route, because standing with Silva is not the best of ideas for him. Use your striking to work for the takedown, and nothing more.
Discuss.

I really hope he is just playing mindgames with Silva, and throwing him off. It doesn't even say who his new Muay Thai instructer is....I don't see this turning out good.

For his sake he better be bluffing. Not that it would affect Silva's gameplan either way, but that is just rediculous! Even if his striking improved 200% there is a 0% chance he'll come out on top by exchanging blows with Silva.
Yes, just like how Tito was gonna be the first to KO Randy.

his trainer is there in the picture. so i mean, he does have a striking coach now. it has to be mind games, kind of like Werdum talking about CC being able to hang on the ground with the best now. would be funny if Yoshi won by KO.

Why is he calling Silva the 'king of strikers'?
probably because he beats the shit out of everybody.

Now that I think about it ... sure Hunt and Cro Cop couldn't knock out Silva, but Yoshida was a better striker than them in the first place, boost him up 200% on top of that and he could knock out 3 Silvas at once!

He didn't beat the shit out of Hunt and Crocop, but he did do a damn fine job against them. Still, I wouldn't call him the king of strikers, maybe the king of the mw division, but we'll see if he retains his crown...
Hunt and Crocop who outweighed him. but in general, he has beat the shit out of just about everyone he has fought, as you say, in MMA, which they are fighting.

Yoshida is afriad to get hit int he face.
Yoshida's only fast strong punch is a short right upper cut.
Yoshida's jab is sub par. He is better off clinching, muscling for position short pop shotting Wand and while Wand pushes Yocheeta off, going for his tight upper cuts.

Yes, just like how Tito was gonna be the first to KO Randy.
Not to mention that he was going to knock Chuck TFO.
Yoshida better take it to the ground as fast as he can.
keep in mind how dangerous Yoshida could be with good striking if he uses it to play to his strengths, which is his judo.

Well, naturally. I still don't think it's the best idea to stand and strike with Silva.

Silva would still probably own him standing even if Yoshiada's striking really did improve 200%.

I can't see Yoshida trading with SIlva. Still he seems to have a good chin and he is tough as hell. Maybe he can land a good shot and then choke Wandy with his pajamas.

The only thing yoshida is going to strike is the canvas after catching 3 or 4 knees to the face.

doesnt everybody try this shit? i remember Tito pulling this shit most recentley Chunk, and i know i've heard that shit from other fighters , " im gonna stand with so-and-so, you wont see any takedowns, this is gonna be a stand up war", two punches later all your seeing is single and double leg attempts.

Zero times 200% is zero.
Yoshi isn't that dumb (Tito-dumb?), that he would go out of his gamplan. Why wouldn't he concentrate on the thing he does best.
Hopefully the same with Kondo. Sure, he'll get KO'd anyway, but if he'll try to seriously stand up with Igor, it's hospital time.

I hope Yoshi does try and stand.
It will be a spectacular KO.
Yoshi NEEDED to concentrate in striking. his Judo is already at a high enough level for MMA. with improved striking, opponents will have more than just the clinch and takedown to look out for. they will have to look for the strikes as well, which will setup the clinch and takedowns much easier for him. and if they dont look out for the strikes, he may be able to catch somebody with one and then go for the sub while their stunned. all yoshi is doing here is improving his game by crosstraining. did he need to go out there and say he is gonna KO Silva? of course not! i am looking for Yoshi to use more striking than normal, but only to clinch for the takedown and nothing more.

I suddenly have a strong impulsive gut-level feeling that Yoshi will win by Gi choke. I wont beleive it either if it happens, but for the record, I have a hunch.

What a tailspin that would send the MMA Universe into. I can see it now all over these boards. Work! Work! Work!

People would immediately dump Silva from the top 5...
"Yoshi could easily beat chuck"
"Silva should retire"
Oh,the SD MMA forum would reek of bullshit for weeks.

If Silva doesn't win the whole thing then the MMA board is going to be full of shit full stop.
Oh no, wait, it already is.

Yoshida lost to Rulon in a boxing match (basicly). He's gotta be talking shit, not that it will have any effect whatsoever on Silva.
If Yoshida decides to stand with Silva he's gonna get raped. I personally hope he does; I wouldn't mind seeing a brutal fuckin knockout compliments of the Axe Murderer.

take your arguement to Yoshida then.
and the way he uses his punches, kicks, stomps, and knees in MMA, he is one of the best strikers.

well i meant in MMA, not stand up fighting. his striking doesnt suit stand up rule.
