OCTOBER 14TH - ROBERT GUERTIN ARENA IN GATINEAU
The excellent news for all MMA fans is that the highly anticipated main event between Wagnney Fabiano and top 5 ranked featherweight Jeff "Big Frog" Curran is still on and both fighters are eagerly awaiting the trip to the ring. Fabiano wants to prove to the world that the BJJ phenom is one of the world's top featherweights and Curran is looking to avenge the loss of his student Matt "Sunshine" Fiordirosa on a previous APEX event. Although there is a lot of mutual respect between these fighters, there is some definate bad blood as this fight is huge for both men's careers. Nabil "The Thrill" Khatib is anxiously awaiting a title around his waist as he faces his toughest challenger to date in Fritz "The Animal" Paul. Khatib is the talk of Ottawa region as one of their local stars continues to shine bright.
There are a few updates to the October 14th, 2006 APEX: A NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS fight card. The biggest (and the news was broken first right here on BK (http://www.bloodyknux.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21147) ) and most exciting change of the night has Jeff ?The Inferno? Joslin stepping up to take on Nuri Shakir for the APEX World Welterweight title. Because of this fight, an opening was created for someone to take on Colin O?Rourke.
Insert Halifax, Nova Scotia?s Jason Mackay who without blinking an eye is willing to take on the rough and rugged American. Mackay has been raising eyebrows on Canada?s East Coast and is coming to APEX to prove to everyone why this submission specialist is the real deal.
APEX: MMA and Auditions stand out Rory McDonell has been added to the card and will taking on another new addition, Cedric Grenon. This lightweight fight has fireworks written all over it as McDonnell not only impressed the judging panel at the APEX Auditions, but has been training with Jeff Joslin?s Team Inferno for his debut bout. Grenon on the other hand is a member of Team Bushido, the very team where APEX Middleweight standout Nabil ?The Thrill? Khatib is from. This fight is sure to be an explosive affair.
Chris Kruger has withdrawn from his fight with Stephane Lamarche. In his spot, APEX is proud to announce that Montreal?s Jean-Francois Paul will be stepping up to the plate. Paul is a fearless warrior who is looking to make his mark on the Canadian MMA scene with an explosive victory and extremely excited about making his MMA debut.
