Sir Punchalot

Ok, so for you guys not really updated on current events in the fighting world, the great Sir Punchalot is making a return to the ring. Like I said on my birthday thread the other day, I will keep you all updated on how things are going, and for that exciting information you have to visit this forum right here.
Anyway, so I've finished my first week of training, and actually feel pretty great about the whole thing. While I've gained a kilo (I now weigh 106kg - goal is 91) and still suck immensely technically (I'm pretty much re-learning what used to be second nature) I feel that things are going well enough to believe that I'll eventually be better than ever as long as I just keep it up. Things are coming back fairly quickly I feel, but I do realize that the fine tuning will take a loooong time and lots of work. Also, there is plenty of stuff that I never learned, so it's not like I won't have enough to do in the gym in the next coupla years.
This first week back has been pretty easy, I'm out of shape and don't want to kill myself, so I'm working out at low to moderate intensity and will keep doing that for a little while. Monday, Wednesday and Friday were running days - I alternated running and walking for 25-30 minutes each day, and this is what I will continue doing for the next few weeks, building up to running continuously for thirty minutes within a few weeks (My goal is eight weeks, that should suffice to get in sufficient shape to do that).
Running is VERY heavy work now that I'm in such bad shape and weigh so much, but Friday I did a little better than I did on the previous two days. If I weren't running in the morning like I'm doing now I'd probably have more energy for it, but it's a good way to start the day so I'm going to continue doing that for this kind of running, but do sprints and such in the afternoon. This week coming up I'll be doing some more stretching to go with my morning run, I'm very stiff so I need to do more of that.
I also train for about an hour and fifteen minutes either in the afternoon or in the evening depending on work schedule, six days a week. I've mostly been doing easy bag work, working on my punching technique and footwork, a fair bit of focus pads work, lots of slow shadow boxing, some floor exercises, and a bit of stretching. I probably spend more time in front of the mirror than most women - both at home and in the gym. (I hope my neighbours can't hear my huffing and puffing in the bathroom every time I'm in there.) All I do right now is real easy stuff, though. I'm not beginning sparring yet, that'd be just a waste of time and counter productive at this stage. I need to get 'the moves' back in working order first.
This coming week will be more of the same stuff. I'm going to run tomorrow morning, wednesday and friday, and hope to be able to train in the evening each day instead of the afternoon so that I can do lots of focus pads work (I need someone to hold them, and where I train now that is only possible in the evenings, except for Saturdays.) Focus pads work is where it's at right now, I feel.
It looks like I will be training in several different gyms. I have borrowed my mothers garage (no, fuckheads, I don't live with my mom, she still lives in the house where I grew up) where I can train either by myself or with someone else whenever I want. I'll be using that for a while until I get my own garage again - I like training by myself and in a private place sometimes. Not that that I masturbate during my workouts or anything, I just like training alone. Anyway, it feels great training there again, I used to train in that very same garage when I started boxing almost two decades ago - the place has a nice atmosphere for me. I have sixteen square meters of grappling mats (I'll be doing some grappling too, for fun and variation), a heavy bag, a standing dummy, an exercise bike, a couple of punching balls, gloves and focus pads, some weights and a few other bits and pieces there.
Most of the boxing specific training is done at a gym just across the graveyard from where I live, though (yes, I do live almost right next to a graveyard, a good friend of mine who decided he sucked at life and wanted to try something else is even buried there - I walk past his place every day now). In addition to this I also plan to train a little bit at an MMA gym (they actually have some decent boxing training there) which is also situated real close (a ten minute walk) to where I live.
However, when things are a bit more 'settled in' with my company and I can take more time off from work without losing a shitload of money I will start training at the boxing gym in the town right next to mine - about a twenty-five minute drive away. It's a great boxing gym, one of the very best in Norway, and has for many years been the place where the national amateur boxing team has gotten together for training. I look forward to getting started there, but that's probably three months or so away - if things go according to plan.
Also, when I start weight training (which I will be doing quite a bit of) I will be doing most of that at yet another local gym (five minute walk from my place), a gym which is actually considered one of the best equipped gyms for resistance traning in northern Europe. I don't use machines much, though, so that really means fuck all, but it's a nice place to train.
So anyway, blah blah blah, I will tell you more about this later. Suffice to say, I'm very excited about fighting again, and tranining is going well apart from the fact that I currently suck at boxing and am in poor shape and tired and sore all the time from doing stuff that I'm not used to.
Also: I've started eating vegetables. Two thumbs up for that! :)
