BloodyKnux.com staff member David Peterson was recently able to grab a few moments with the head coach of the IFL's Wolfpack and the widely regarded top-ranked 185lb fighter in the world Matt "The Law" Lindland...
BloodyKnux.com: Starting off can I ask a couple questions about you instead of your team?
Matt Lindland: Sure
BK: Are you exclusively signed with IFL now?
ML: I am not exclusive with anyone. I am a free agent that will fight for any organization that will put me against a quality opponent for the right money.
BK: Is Anderson Silva a quality opponent you?d like to face?
ML: Anderson is a quality opponent. I?d love to fight Anderson. I?d love to fight a lot of guys out there. There?s Misaki, there?s Paulo Filho, there?s a lot of good fighters out there and I?m going to go after all of them. That?s why I?m staying a free agent and I?m not going to sign with any one organization.
BK: So you?ll be taking fights one at a time?
ML: I?ll line up a whole year in advance if someone wants to set my schedule for me, then I know what I?m training for, but I will not sign an exclusive deal with any one organization because I?m out to fight the best opponents.
BK: Has IFL set up any super fights for you?
ML: Yes they have, I?m fighting February 2nd against Carlos Newton
BK: Now your team ? not the best showing tonight, but you came a long way to make it to the finals, any thoughts on that?
ML: We fought hard to get to the finals and we fought hard in the finals. A couple mistakes and we lost those fights they could have gone either way. Two fights we lost we were ahead on the card and lost them in the 3rd round. Those were both going our way we just made mistakes and got caught.
BK: Okay, now I was speaking with Dan Henderson earlier tonight and he said that if he were to set up a super fight between the two of you he would definitely win. What do you have to say about that?
ML :Well it?s two and two so that would be the rubber match
BK: Just kidding there, but he did say he would demand lots of money for the both of you
ML: Absolutely, pay us well.
BK: So you?d fight him too for the right price?
ML :Sure, pay us well and we?ll go beat each other up.
BK: (laughs) Okay Matt, thanks for your time
ML :Not a problem
