I saw this one coming a mile away:
HERE (http://sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/fight/pride/headlines/20050428-00000031-spnavi-spo.html)
Basically he wants Silva to avenge Yoshida`s lost.

It is huge suprise if this fight is not going to happen.

this fight can only happen if Naka wins Saku in the second round
i dunno about this one. Naka is a tough bastard, but i dont think he can take Silva.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Nak will give Silva more trouble on the ground than Yosh did, however the experience and intimidation will play a factor here and Silva will manage to keep it up and pound Nak - bad.

I doubt it. I think Silva's struggles with Yoshida are due to the gi.
BTW, was I the only one that was amused by Wandy giving the ref the old Hulk Hogan finger shake when he was getting a closer look to see if Yosh actually had Wand in trouble?

I think the only way that Nakamura will give Silva significant trouble on the ground is if he uses his Gi, other than that Silva is very competent on the ground.
Anyway, Silva is gonna knock his block off!
Nakamura will give Silva trouble. There will be no ko in this fight, sorry.

Wand didn't look so hot in his rematch w/ Yoshida. He looked small and seemed out of shape. I was really surprised because I've never seen him take a fight lightly. If he doesn't prepare better Nakamura could give him a lot of trouble. Likewise, if he does train hard he will probably take Nakamura out in less than 5 mins.

Wand did look a bit small, apparently there was some problem with him making weight and he overcompensated ... something like that. There is an interview up today on mmaweekly (only for the premium members .. if anyone can get it then share it!) and they mention that he had "a tough time making weight"

His match against Randleman is the only one I haven't seen from the first round. Is it worth downloading and giving it a watch?

I like this guy and would love to see him win the whole thing, but he wont.
I'll still be cheering him on.

Nah, the only funny part is Randleman getting his face pounded time and time again when his arm was caught under Naka's leg. Amazing that the ref did not end the match at that point. Mostly it's just Randleman lay'n'prayin' in half-guard.

Silva won't knock out Naka, just like he wasn't able to knock out Yoshida. He will beat him up though.
He might have a narrow escape on the ground once or twice, but he'll get out like he always does, and will probably get a split decision win.

I can't see Nak beating Silva. Yoshida is much stronger and the gi neutralized Silva a lot of the time. If they do fight in the next round Nak should consider wearing the gi.

To elaborate on this, here is something from mmaweekly today:
Wanderlei is a heavy ?middleweight?, who walks around at a weight considerably heavier than the 93 kilos (205 pounds) allowed fighters in PRIDE?s equivalent to a light heavyweight category. That affords him a size and strength advantage over others in the same weight class, but at the same time it also necessitates cutting weight prior to weigh-in time for his matches.
This time, Silva raised a few eyebrows when he weighed in a kilogram (2.2 pounds) over at a pre-weigh-in, then 1.4 kilos under weight at the official weigh-in. While that?s not an extreme amount of weight to shave in MMA circles, it?s more than a 5 pound swing in a matter of a couple of hours. Such a swing requires a strenuous workout on the day before the fight. This tires the fighter out, and has been known to have repercussions on the outcome of numerous matches in the past.
At the weigh-in, PRIDE boss Nobuyuki Sakakibara commented that Wanderlei ?is not as calm as he usually is. He has seemed nervous since yesterday, and that concerns me.? No wonder. Not only did Wanderlei have trouble making weight, but unconfirmed reports say that he also had a fever and even received an IV in between training sessions after coming to Japan this time. All this after arriving two days late due to a malfunction on the airplane that was supposed to bring him and his team over

No it is just Nakamura stalling from the bottom. Holding on getting cards and such. No action except for a couple of good Randleman takedowns and when Nakamura gets on top and traps Randleman's arms. He lands some punches that could not break a window then Randleman gets out. Boring fight. They should have kicked both fighters out of the tourney and let Hendo in instead for at least trying in his fight.

Some of you guys are being harsh on Nakamura's fight w/ Randleman. Kevin had a noticeable size and strength advantage over him. Nakamura neutralized and reversed anything Kevin managed to do and even had the best (looking) GnP of the night IMO.
As far as Hendo goes, that's bullshit. You're just bitter cuz your boy got armbarred by Rogerio. Nakamura made it to decision w/ Rogerio at least (twice). I'm also not convinced Dan would have beat Randleman either. Dan looked like shit vs Kondo and didn't look much better vs Rogerio. I like Dan and all but I don't let favoritism get in the way of giving credit where it's due. Hopefully guys lke Hendo, Busta, Kondo, etc get in the 83 kilo GP where they can do some damage.
Sometimes i feel like the whole japanese citizens are in a line to fight Wanderley ...

they're marque names in Japan, might as well get them in the tournament for buy rates....though Japan doesn't really need the buyrates, fans love this shit

Ahh yes, thanks. I often forget Rogerio has any wins that weren't decisons.
Hell, they let Randleman in the HW and MW GPs, why not let thses guys fight in the WW GP too? Personally, I wish Sakuraba would have been in the smaller GP (I guess he still could be). It's his true division and he would have a very good chance of taking it.
