from the observer report, it sounds like thomas/guida was quite action packed but probably wont make the broadcast due to going the distance

Seriously thought Clay was gonna pull this one off. Hope to see it.

(BTW: I knew this one could've been considered FOTN.)

Nate Marquardt beat Dean Lister by UD including one score of 30-25. Apparently he kicked the shit out of lister, knocking him down several times and dominating him on the ground

Woo-hoo, got one all correct at last. I didn't expect Nate to win quite that decisively though. Hopefully it was exciting enough for Zuffa to like it (and finally give him a title shot soon) even if it went to decision.

bk really needs a Pickem Panic Button that you press and it magically removes your pickems.

Man, that Lister/Marquardt fight was like the exact opposite of their ADCC '03 encounter, when a smaller Nate was smoked in a minute by Lister.

all my points came in the pre-lims....0 points in the main card :( Yes, I picked Salmon to win and I was looking pretty damn good at the end of the first. But when round 2 started, Salmon seemed gassed....I knew I was in trouble

Is it just me or did any1 else catch when Marquardt kneed Lister in the head when he was down? I mean neither of his feet were planted when he got blasted.

I don't mind they let it go to be honest but just wondering if others noticed.

Maybe because striking was allowed in this fight, you think?

I wondered about that too. I think they require you to have 3 limbs on the ground or something though and Lister wasn't touching the ground with his hands. That's about the only reason I can think of at least.

Oh ok, its just that the rule is worded "to a downed opponent" I believe plus there was that ever famous piece of advice from Franklin on where he says as long as you have one knee on the ground you can't be kneed, kicked...etc in the face.

Plus in the Haynes vs Bisping fight Mike got penalised for throwing a knee when Josh was kneeling.

hmmm, good point. Someone has to know the wording on that rule and has seen the knee. Maybe Dean was sitting....Ah hell, I want to say the ref just slipped, but Rogan or Goldie didn't say anything either. Maybe Haynes had a knee down in that fight? I'm just grasping at staws here, but I'd assume there's some reason as noone else did anything about it.

My favorite was Burkman's stomp on Reiner that got a 'that's a warning, keep going', glad Reiner wasn't injured or rocked from it, because he should've gotten a break up for longer than 2 seconds on that flagrant rule violation.

It may just be me, or is Dean Lister the american version of Musashi? In the looks department

how do you convert On Demand fights into regular files?

Yeah, it happened and all, but it was also thrown when Lister was dropping down to his butt after the right that dropped him. It's one of those "it's already being thrown, the momentum can't be stopped" blah blah blah

This fight was complete domination and the same Marquardt from his fight against Doerksen....just too bad both Doerksen and Lister have tremendous heart and recover very quickly. After seeing the replay as well, Lister was out after the right knee, but Nate woke him up with the front headlock and punches. If Nate would've just backed up after the knee, KO win for him

How did one judge give the fight a 30-27?

wow, I really liked Guida's immediate defense of Din's triangle in the first. Once Din started to wrap his legs up, Guida immediately threw in his other arm to turn it into a full guard

kid's relentless thus far

There's a program that'll remove DRM encryption. Not sure what it is, but I think someone upped a version of it on here even.

Every fight other than HH/JO'B was awesome and even HH/JO'B was a competitive match-up, just a boring version. Very impressive card filled with good fights. Should get a lot of play on Unleashed if they're doing their jobs in marketing.

is it just me or did Guida win that?

Bishop
01-29-2007, 02:48 AM
I honestly don't know, it seems to me that some fights takedowns are worth alot, and others they are not. Guida did alot while on the ground and definately won round 1. Round 2 was in the air and I thought he did enough in round 3 to maybe eek it out.

This is probably the only fight I do not know the true winner and it's frustrating

Oliver Klosov

I felt like Guida did more.

Bishop
01-29-2007, 02:52 AM
Din didn't look too comfortable going to the decision. Guida looked like he knew he won while Din was too preoccupied in keeping his eyes from puffing up any more than they already were

I was rooting for Clay. Hell, I put 50k on him, and if he'd gotten the decision I would have been fine with it, but I think the bloody nose, and those repeated jabs earned Din the W. It was really close, and both fighters impressed me, but I can't say Clay was robbed or anything.
