?THE CROW? MIGRATING WEST

By Loretta Hunt (loretta@thefightnetwork.com)

David ?The Crow? Loiseau will be migrating west to New Mexico in the coming weeks to begin a training camp with renowned trainer Greg Jackson.

The Canadian middleweight, who took a three round decision loss to Jackson-trained Joey Villasenor Feb. 10 during Elite XC?s ?Destiny? broadcast on SHOWTIME, says he and the amiable trainer mutually approached each other after the bout.

?I think Greg Jackson is a genius when it comes to MMA,? said Loiseau. ?It?s all about the chemistry, the fighter-trainer thing. With the changes I want to make, I think Jackson is man to bring me to the top.?

Loiseau, who just purchased a home in Montreal, plans to frequent Jackson?s gym as well as receive his new teammates up North. This foreign exchange could see Villasenor, ?The Ultimate Fighter 2? winner Rashad Evans, ?TUF 1? victor Diego Sanchez, and fellow middleweight Nate Marquardt hop the border to train with Loiseau in the months ahead.

Loiseau?s close friend and training partner Georges St. Pierre, the UFC?s Welterweight Champion, has also trained with Jackson?s brood in the past.

?He [Jackson] has an army of great fighters and I am excited about joining the camp,? said Loiseau. ?Every time Georges came back he would have so many great things to say about them.?

An Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran who rose to stardom through Canada?s leading MMA promotion TKO, muay Thai-trained Loiseau (14-7) became recognized for his striking talents, including razor-sharp elbows he could wield from a multitude of positions on his opponents.

In March 2006, Loiseau unsuccessfully waged a five-round war with then UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin for his title. Loiseau has dropped two more bouts since including his Feb. 10 bout with Villasenor, a loss the Canadian acknowledges was a strategic victory significantly influenced by Jackson?s tutelage.

Jackson, whose stable of fighters has grown to prominence in the last two years, believes Loiseau?s laidback personality, coupled with his explosive skills, will be an asset to his team.

?It?s gonna be a ?give and take? relationship for sure,? said Jackson. ?I think Dave?s got a lot of potential and I look forward to working with him.?

?I have so much to share with them technique-wise,? Loiseau agreed. ?I?m not one to keep it to myself and I am definitely open to new lessons. The more you share the better you become.?

Loiseau, who is currently contracted under Pro Elite?s Elite XC organization for two more bouts, does not have his next bout scheduled at this time.

actually i was thinking about this the other day, jackson's camp is prolly the most optimal camp out there for the crow to train in

what's jackson's camp known for? cardio, cautious yet strong stand up, td/td def, top control/positioning. they're not known for spetacular combos or subs from the bottom. both of which isn't loiseau's game in the first place.

loiseau's strong pts is to catch someone with strong strike standing or gnp elbows, which relies on getting tds, ironically his weak pt. however jackson's strong pt. this can only help to elevate his game. the emphasis on cardio can only help his end-game as well
