i am watching franklin vs macdonald on it as we type. It isn't a "recommended" application, you have to click on the thing that says "all" applications.

Right Click - open with - other - Enable: "all Applications" - VLC
(VLC might even be on that left column that has network, macintosh HD, VLC, Desktop, applications, doccuments, movies, music, pictures)
