I don't think people quite realize how much of a major player Showtime, EXC, and ProElite want to become. With this purchase they now own Cage Rage, ICON Sport, Gladiator Challenge, and King Of The cage, and this will give them a lot of young talent and as long as they keep on putting on fun shows, (I've highly enjoyed every show they've put on so far) they will do big things. Of course you will still have the idiots that are anti-EXC, anti-Bodog, anti-IFL, etc., but they really should be ignored, MMA is MMA, and free MMA is even better.

I agree totally. Another consolidation amongst the off-brand MMA promoters can't hurt the sport.

Outside of the IFL, I'd love to see all the non-UFC promotions get into a talent exchange program. It's got to be difficult to put together a top talent card outside of the UFC, but there are good guys out there. Having them spread thinly over 10 promotions makes it worse, but soon I think we'll be down to 2 or 3 UFC-alternatives, and hopefully with Showtime or another big backer they can be competitive.

Does Cage Force work in conjunction with K-1? Is K-1 working with any org. state side?

Sorry if these questions are ridiculous, but I haven't been paying any attention to most the acquisitions made by major orgs. Minus UFC buying WEC and...something else.

I'm not sure if K-1 has anything to do with cage force other than some fighters that have fought in Hero's being associated with them like Uno, Kikuchi, and Boku. Plus I think the goal of their tourneys are to try and get the winners in the UFC.

K-1 and CAGE FORCE are united only in the fact that some of the bigger ups at GCM are affiliated with K-1, i.e. Uno is a star, Isono is the HERO'S rules director, etc.

Best part of all:

“We [Andy Geer and Dave O’Donnell] are still running the show,” says Geer. “At present there is no finished deal, but one of our priorities will be working with their [Pro Elite’s] TV contacts to improve the quality of our broadcasts.”

LOL! Good stuff. Reps.

This is a good move by both. Solidarity is needed if the other big orgs are to survive and there is nothing more solid than a merger. I love UFC but its sad to think that there venomous behind the scenes business tactics are so vile that anyone else out there has to defend themselves against bullying underhand stuff.

Cage Rage is a great org. They're production values are slick, they put a huge amount of emphasis on potentially lesbian ring card girls and the shows entertain.

WAR OTHER ORGS UNITING!!!!

Best part of all:

One thing that needs to be sorted. Andy & Dave introducing the TV show. They are very annoying and its kinda cheap when you see Andy running between the cage and the studio. Its almost like they are short staffed.

They could do with a new MC although that gypsy looking oddball they have is infinately better than Bruce Buffer.

I think it's been on the cards for a little while tbh. Something I found when I was browsing the cage rage site led me to proelite's site.

The extra investment will help bring in some fresher blood and hopefully to larger venues, although it is currently local to me. (I'm still pee'd off that DJL and Chuck didnt tell me they were going to the last show. :) )

Andy and Dave just need to lay off the sniff. The ring announcer is a pikey. They have the worst crowd control ever, I saw at least two big brawls in the audience last show I went to. The ring girls are fucking idiots, cute, but idiots. The old ring girls that I knew were much better.

I think it's a good move for both sides and should be interesting to see how Proelite change CR's production long term. Although i think the CR guys would be reluctant to drop their presenting role.

As for CR being understaffed, i think they probably are as most UK shows run their shows with people they know and trust, and i think Andy Geer likes to control things directly.

Be ace if Proelite or someone else joined up with the other UK shows too (hint, hint) lol

Also I found this on flicker

The show they do on FightTWC isnt too bad. They need to get some better stuff on the go with the presenting other than the same Sky Sports /Bodog/Cage Rage sponsor board that they also use at the weight ins.

everything GCSD, Kainer and Dazed has said here seems right. the two andy's will be reluctant to give up their presenting show when they should. the announcer should go and yeah, the crowd was drunk and there were too many hanger ons. they also lacked a clear media liaison policy. it was mildly chaotic.

I don't think much will change unless Gary Shaw/Proelite throw their 50% of weight around and force them to change or do it themselves. I'm surprised SKy tv haven't doen it as they handled production of the WCFC show really well.

The MC won't go either as he is close to (i heard even a relation of) of DoD. Plus i heard he adds that London flavour to the show. CR is a very London based product, i personally don't like the way the camera gets in his face as he gurns into it, but again, that's the "in-ya-face" attitude they portray.

Drunk Crowd = Welcome to England lol. I can't say nowt on that i was totally wrecked and fell down the stairs last time i was at CR (After the England/Portugal WC Game last year) then went into hiding as i embarassed myself so much.

Hangers on - Happens at every show mate...we have the same problem at CW, and i see it at every other UK show too. Yeah i think CR do let a lot of people in for free from their club. But i find teams and other people in the scene do clot up a lot of uk shows and it's something you cant get rid of. Again i think this might be a UK problem as i see it in clubs and other places where connected people abuse their power.

clear media liaison policy - again CR have only really had 2-3 years of being a "big" show. You think their policy is bad....the rest of the uk lags way behind. I'm ashamed of our policy at CW, which is basically "give me a call"

agree again. I have the English disease. once I get a taste of alcohol, I start getting ravenous. about the hangers ons, my main experience of doing the press has been out in Japan and Korea and they have that better under control. though alot of that it logical.

the dude who does the after fight interviews OJ, got the job by meeting Dave on VH1 and Dave liked him. like you said, they deal with people close to them and good on them.

That's the UK scene down to a Tee. Everything is word of mouth or who you know.

And if you help out for free that will be even better.

And i speak from experience on both sides breaking into the scene and working in it.
