Say you could book the MGM Arena with an unlimited budget to host your dream boxing card. Which fighters would you pick to face each other? Now keep in mind you could choose any fighters of any era to have at it, so book to your hearts content and feel free to explain matchnups if you like. The card i am thinking of would be an all heavyweight affair

Bout 1
Earnie Shavers vs Samuel Peter- This would be a bout between two men who punched like they have bazookas in their gloves. Its not a matter of if but when someone would go down for the count, which is pretty much a guarentee with these two punchers. Id take Earnie by 2nd round KO

Bout 2
Joe Frazier vs Mike Tyson (Pre 1990)- Two short stocky heavies who can talk a lot of shit and back it up. Both men are former heavyweight champions and both can punch fairly hard. I think Frazier had the chin to even stand up to youthful Mike and would damn sure not be intimidated by him. I see Joe winning by late round stoppage after picking apart Mike on the inside and surviving a knockdown or two upon the way.

Bout 3
George Foreman vs Larry Holmes- This bout was rumored to happen during both men's geriatric period but would have been quite a site to behold during their primes. It would have been Foreman's sledgehammer punches trying to breakthrough against what was arguably the best jab ever possesed by Larry Holmes. Larry not only had a great jab but he could move in the ring as well and i could see him walking with a UD here

Bout 4- Headliner
Muhammad Ali vs Joe Louis- Ya know im not quite totally sure how to break this one down but id just be damn excited to see it.

So what are some fights you guys would make for a dream boxing card? The matchups could be off the wall or something that most fight fans dream of. it doesnt matter as long as you would enjoy it

Great thread Gigante. Let me start with two of my favorite fighters ever.

Olivares vs. Zarate at 118
Two of the hardest hitters P4P ever and two of the best bantamweights as well. When Olivares first fought for a title and won he was 51-0-1 with 49 KO's and when Zarate fought Zamora he was 40-0 with 39 KO's. It would be Olivares left hand against Zarates huge right hand. I see Zarate KOing Olivares in the mid rounds of this slugfest.

Trinidad vs. Cuevas at 147
This would be a matchup between two of the hardest hitting WWs with the two best left hooks at that weight IMO. Cuevas was tough as hell and this would be a brawl with Cuevas winning early and hurting Titio but Titos accurate powerpunching would take over by the mid to late rounds and he would stop Cuevas.

Sanchez vs. Arguello at 126
Two excellent FWs and just great fighters. Arguello was the most accurate and technical power puncher Ive seen and could conceivably hurt Sanchez in this fight. Sanchez was such a natural fighter and would find a way to keep Arguello off balance and do enough to win a decision in a great action fight.

Gomez vs. Morales at 122
The top two 122 lbers in my opinion. This would be a great fight with Gomez' unreal power and underrated defensive skill against Morales' great outside ability and iron chin. Either guy could hurt the other and it would be a brawl IMO but I think Gomez would win a decision by a few rounds with both guys being hurt along the way.

ali x tyson - the late 80's tyson against the 60's ali. somewhat similar to ali x frazier, but ali in his prime; we get to see just how good tyson is compared to frazier. with the left hook, tyson will have a weapon that joe used well against ali.
srr x rjj - 2 fighters who had awesome speed and power in their punches. srr is used to taking more punishment, but he's never faced anyone near the reflexes and counterpunching ability of rjj. rjj dominated the middles/supermiddles with power and speed, and made the best he's faced look like they don't belong in the same ring. srr has a bunch of losses to guys he shouldn't have lost to, but he's still considered the best ever.
leonard x hops - just like leonard x hagler, but hops is a better tactician and craftier (dirtier, smart roughness) than the marvelous one. i wanna see if hops can hit and hurt leonard, and stop him from executing his flurry and run gameplan.
foreman x lennox - big george foreman made frazier look like a jumping mexican bean, but lennox is actually the bigger opponent who knows how to use his height and reach advantages, with a good jab and a good right. i wanna see how george reacts to the physical challenge, and i wanna see how lennox does against a talented, powerful, and (somewhat) big george.
