Got to say, I've never been a Mayorga fan, but the cigarette schtick is gold. Unless he gasses hard after three minutes, or Din develops a submission that involves feeding Mayorga his own cig, and then it's irony gold.

3. Declare that you are going to make HIM your girlfriend.

Mayorga is fucking awesome. But Din Thomas is more awesome. He is going to beat the shit out of Mayorga. And it's going to be hilarious. I mean, Mayorga strikes me as the kind of guy who is not even going to train wrestling or jiu-jitsu, and just think he's going to land the one-in-a-million punch. So basically, this is going to be great.

The thing about this fight is....If Din subs him early, it does nothing for Shine, especially because Mayorga signed a three fight deal....If Mayorga KO's Din early that does nothing for the production either....I think they chose Din because he is actually crafty enough to get this fight to go the full three rounds....put on a show and win of course. :)
I agree and I think he knows that, he has to make this a fight in some way or at least make it look like one.

As to Don King, here is the other side.
Shine Fights responds to Don King's threat:
Despite demands from Don King Productions to "cease and desist" promoting Ricardo Mayorga, Shine Fights Promotions CEO Devin Price is assuring fight fans that the May 15th MMA event "WORLDS COLLIDE: MAYORGA VS. THOMAS" will go forward "without a doubt." Price also added, "Shine Fights has a valid and exclusive promotional contract with Ricardo Mayorga for mixed martial arts. We are pleased to offer both MMA fans and boxing fans a great night of MMA action on Saturday, May 15th."
"When we announced this fight I said that we think Mayorga’s fans are just that, his fans, and that they will follow him to MMA," said Price. "Our target is to convert many boxing fans into fans of both sports."

MMA VETERAN AND TV STAR JASON CHAMBERS
TO PROVIDE COMMENTARY AT “WORLDS COLLIDE”
Miami, FL (USA): Shine Fight Promotions (Shine Fights) today announced that MMA veteran and Hollywood star Jason Chambers will be part of the broadcast team for the “WORLDS COLLIDE: MAYORGA VS. THOMAS” pay-per-view event. The other members of the broadcast team will be announced shortly.
Born in Chicago, IL, Jason “Hollywood” Chambers, as he is known in the MMA world, is a former professional fighter with a record of 18-5. Perhaps best known as the host of the hit History Channel Series “Human Weapon,” Jason traveled the globe to explore the history and techniques of various martial arts as part of the show. A diverse artist in every sense of the word, Jason is a certified Jeet Kune Do Concepts Instructor, and a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Jason’s career, though, has often blurred the lines between cage and stage. Jason has been involved in the entertainment field since 2002, when he began to study the craft of acting in Chicago at “Act One” studios, and improvisation at the world famous “Second City.” Chambers solidified his decision to pursue the entertainment field in 2003 by moving to New York to further study his craft, while continuing his BJJ training at Renzo Gracie’s academy. He quickly landed appearances in established television series such as “Guiding Light,” “All My Children,” “Can You Tell?” and most frequently on “As the World Turns.” Jason has done numerous commercials and has also been a guest star on “Days of Our Lives,” “The Middleman,” and “CSI NY.” In addition to acting, Jason can be seen on G4’s “Attack of the Show,” where he gives his insights on upcoming MMA fights in their “MMA Chokehold” segment, and in FIGHT! Magazine, where he is a regular contributor. Jason continues to train in BJJ and MMA in his free time. His unique combination of in-the-cage and on-the-air experience will bring great insight to Shine Fight fans worldwide.
Regarding “Worlds Collide,” Chambers had this to say: “Growth is needed to sustain life. I believe the same is true for the sport of MMA. Thanks to the growth of MMA, we now have a plethora of talented fighters who want to make their mark. Shine Fights has stepped up to the plate with a team of people who come from this sport and genuinely care about the fighters. Our matchmaker, Ron Foster, has done an amazing job of balancing our talent pool with seasoned vets and future stars. Shine has created a win-win scenario for the fighters and fans.”
“Worlds Collide” is the perfect tag for this matchup,” said Chambers in relation to the main event. “Ricardo Mayorga is one of the most entertaining fighters to ever hit the boxing circuit. His hot-headed style coupled with his heavy hands propelled him to hold the WBC Championship belt. One solid Mayorga punch, and it could easily be lights out. On the other side of the fence lurks Din Thomas, who is riding a three-fight win streak. Din knows that in a fight, anything can and often will happen. I think Din feels disrespected by Mayorga’s actions, and will be looking to make a statement on May 15th.
Chambers’ Shine Fights commentary debut will take place on a fight card that will feature a 160-pound catchweight main event between former boxing champion Ricardo Mayorga and MMA veteran Din Thomas. The co-main event will showcase a 185 lb. bout between former EliteXC Middleweight Champion Murilo “Ninja” Rua and Canadian warrior Travis “The Gladiator” Galbraith. Also showcased will be a welterweight contest between MMA veteran Nick “The Goat” Thompson and Brazilian star Eduardo Pamplona. In addition, a surefire ground war is set to take place at 175 pounds between 2009 ADCC Absolute Champion Braulio Estima and former Olympic Judo competitor Rick Hawn. Also, a 205-pound grappler’s dream will also take place between Brazilian star Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira and IFL veteran and BJJ black belt Jamal “The Suit” Patterson, and a simmering slugfest between PRIDE veterans Charles “Kid Khaos” Bennett and Brazilian star Luiz Azeredo will round out the PPV-broadcast main card.
I am getting pretty pumped for this show. And I don't care what Bennett says, he is Krazy Horse forever.

EMMY-AWARD WINNING SPORTSCASTER BRUCE BECK AND FORMER BOXING WORLD CHAMPION BOBBY CZYZ
TO SERVE AS BROADCAST TEAM FOR "WORLDS COLLIDE: MAYORGA VS THOMAS" ON MAY 15
SHOWTIME Championship Boxing's Karyn Bryant joins broadcast as a correspondent
NEW YORK, NY (May 11, 2010) - Not only will MMA fans see a great evening of mixed martial arts competition on May 15TH, but they will also hear expert commentary from the broadcast team brought on-board to announce the event. Shine Fights Promotion CEO Devin Price today announced that 2006 New York Emmy Award Winner for Outstanding Sports Anchor Bruce Beck and three-time world champion Bobby Czyz have joined MMA star Jason Chambers to form the broadcast team for the May 15th PPV broadcast of "Worlds Collide: Mayorga vs. Thomas." In addition, Karyn Bryant will serve as a correspondent for the broadcast. Bryant's lengthy television experience includes assignments with SHOWTIME's Championship Boxing series, CBS' "The Early Show" (Guest Anchor), CNN's "77th Academy Awards Red Carpet" program (Host), and TNT's "Super Bowl 98" (Host/Reporter).
Beck is a household name among sports fans, having hosted an array of sports programs and covered a multitude of major sporting events. He is in his thirteenth year with News 4 New York, and is the station's lead sports anchor. In 2006 he received the New York Emmy for Outstanding Sports Anchor, and for three consecutive years (2007-2009) he was selected as New York State Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. Among the sports programs he has hosted are Mike'd Up, News 4 New York's Sunday Night Sports Show, the Toyota Giants Report with Coach Tom Coughlin, and The Rutgers Report with Coach Greg Schiano. The list of sporting events he has covered for News 4 New York reads like a grocery list of the world's premier competitions: Super Bowl's XLII and XLIII, the World Series, the NBA Finals, the Stanley Cup Finals, the U.S. Open Tennis Championship, the U.S. Open Golf Championship, the NCAA Final Four, the Kentucky Derby and the 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008 Olympic Games. Beck also served as the blow-by-blow announcer for numerous UFC events, including UFC 4 thru UFC 15.
"I am looking forward to calling the action on this exciting presentation by Shine Fights," said Beck. "And I can't wait to see Ricardo Mayorga. This warrior has battled the likes of Shane Mosley, Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad in a boxing ring. Now he makes the transition to MMA in 'Worlds Collide.' Does he have the goods? We'll find out soon enough!"
Czyz compiled a record of 44-8 (28 Kos) and won three world championships during his successful 18-year boxing career. A member of the "International High IQ Society" (Mensa) Czyz was also ranked in the top 10 in six different weight classes. Among the boxers he fought were Evander Holyfield, Prince Charles Williams, Donnie Lalonde, Virgil Hill, and Dennis Andries. Since retiring from boxing, Czyz has built a successful career as a broadcaster, most notably as a commentator for SHOWTIME's "Championship Boxing" series.
"Ricardo Mayorga was an 'ANIMAL' in the boxing world and claims to have some grappling skills," said Czyz. "We know that Din Thomas can grapple, so this may come down TO WHO LANDS WELL FIRST and WHO HAS THE BEST CHIN! I think this has to be an exciting fight based on the styles and tenacity of these two fighters!"
"We are very proud to announce this dynamic and well-rounded broadcast team," said executive producer Brian Ricco. "'Worlds Collide' is a very unique event and we have assembled a diversified team of talented announcers, with both boxing and MMA backgrounds, that will reflect this cutting edge event."

The best part of M2S is when MC Eiht is in the caddy scanning the hood for those mark ass niggaz. I've never seen someone so intune with looking for some fools.
It rivals Ed Nortons backwards two-handed slo-mo dunk in American History X as most unrealistic moment in a movie.
Jim Carey's Cable Guy was a much more accurate depiction of how basketball should look on film, that is not to say Norton's dunk was not epic but I think he covered all the basic fundamentals of the game in that sequence. Eiht is ice cold, he offered that wounded gentleman some assistance only to weaken his condition. I blame the the schools.

MAYORGA ARRIVES IN FAYETTEVILLE FOR
MAY 15th "WORLDS COLLIDE" SHOWDOWN
Shine Fights CEO Dismisses Don King "Trickerations"
NEW YORK, NY (May 12, 2010) - Ricardo Mayorga, Shine Fights, and the city of Fayetteville are eagerly awaiting Saturday's MMA showdown between Ricardo Mayorga and Din Thomas at the Crown Coliseum. "Worlds Collide: MAYORGA VS THOMAS” will be broadcast via PPV on cable and satellite in the United States and Canada. The event will be in High Definition and it will be available in both English and Spanish (where available). The MMA showdown will be distributed live on Pay Per View beginning at 9 p.m. ET/PT by MultiVision Media, Inc. on Saturday, May 15 at 9:00 PM ET/6:00 PM PT. There is a 30 minute countdown show prior to the live event at 8:30 PM ET/5:30 PM PT. The suggested retail price for the MMA showdown is $29.95.
Among those most excited about Saturday's event is Shine Fights CEO Devin Price, who laughs off Don King's injunction threats to stop the bout. “MMA fans are going to see an electrifying evening of fighting. I have faith in the American justice system, and I believe justice will prevail. When one operates within the rules and regulations, one has nothing to worry about. As far as King goes, it is just his usual smoke-and-mirrors. He shoots his mouth off about an injunction to try and sway the media's perception, and then waits until the last minute to file in hopes of affecting the success of the promotion. I know the difference between MMA and boxing--and so does Don King. The members of the media, and both MMA and boxing fans, can clearly see that Don King is up to his ‘trickerations.’ This is a wonderful and exciting promotion Shine Fights has put together for both MMA and boxing fans, and I look forward to Saturday, May 15th."
Mayorga is a huge MMA fan who has been dreaming of the day when he will "defeat, with pleasure, a top MMA fighter," and he promises that Saturday, May 15th will be that day.
He is also has some choice words for Don King: "Don King cannot stop this fight because I have only signed contracts with Don having to do with my boxing career. This is ridiculous, because Don knows he has not fought me in 18 months and a fighter makes his living and supports his family based on fighting. I love MMA, and this is a wonderful opportunity for me and my family. He does not give me fights and now wants to try to stop me from fighting…that’s a shame. I have not had any other means to make a living other than fighting. No one can live on air alone. I have been fortunate to have enjoyed being a world champion in boxing, and now have a great opportunity in MMA. Aside from my passion for MMA, I support my family…my children, my mother."

What judge postpones a decision until the morning of the event?
Sherpup-
A hearing set to decide on Don King Productions’ motion for injunctive relief against Shine Fight Promotions and boxer Ricardo Mayorga (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Ricardo-Mayorga-64133) has been extended until Saturday at 10:00 a.m. EST, Sherdog.com has learned.
DKP is asking a Broward County, Fla., Court to prevent boxer Ricardo Mayorga’s MMA debut against former UFC lightweight contender Din Thomas (http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Din-Thomas-1301) at Shine Fights 3 “World Collide” Saturday night at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, N.C.
Sports Illustrated’s Josh Gross was the first to report on the postponement, while DKP’s attorney, Alex Brito, told Sherdog.com that Judge Marc Gold will likely rule on the motion by 12:00 p.m. EST, just hours before the start of Shine Fight’s pay-per-view broadcast, of which Mayorga is slated to headline.
DKP claims Mayorga is in breach of its exclusive promotional contract with the boxer and that the MMA promotion has infringed on DKP’s business agreement with Mayorga by trying to promote him in its event. However, Shine Fights CEO Devin Price argues that DKP’s contract with the athlete pertains only to his boxing career, and not his mixed martial arts endeavors.
Brito told Sherdog.com that the hearing lasted five hours on Friday, and was delayed by the absence of Mayorga, who is named in the motion, and his legal representation. Brito said it was later decided that Shine Fights’ attorneys would also represent Mayorga in the hearing.
Opening statements from both sides, as well as a bulk of the plaintiff’s argument were heard on Friday, said Brito. DKP representative Dana Jamison was examined and cross-examined, and the plaintiffs also presented evidence relative to the case. Brito said the plaintiff will finish its argument presentation on Saturday. The court will then hear the defendant’s argument and make a ruling.

I can't believe they don't have someone waiting around for the results. This event is in deep do do with out the main event. This could be Affliction all over again only on a smaller scale if Mayorga gets stopped.

I don't disagree with the ruling. If Mayorga and Shine are trying to work around an existing contract they're idiots. I think contracts are going to be very specific about combat sports as a whole.

Really, because wouldn't Mayorga be to blame for signing two contracts to fight? Shine should have taken King seriously, but right from the start Mayorga was at fault if he was already under contract.
Shine right now should be negotiating with King for a release and taking it out of Mayorga's cut.

Yep, stand with him to prove some kind of point, that's what I posted earlier.
how true this is, I don't know, but it's funny as fuck nonetheless.
How badly did Don King want to stop Ricardo Mayorga from fighting at “Shine Fights Worlds Collide” against Din Thomas? Enough to post one million dollars for the injunction.
After winning an emergency injunction Saturday afternoon over a rival promoter and one of his fighters that was attempting to participate on Saturday night in a M.M.A. match in Fayetteville, N.C., Don King had one last hurdle to clear: Florida state law required him to post a bond that Broward County Circuit Court Judge Marc H. Gold determined at $1 million. And he had to do it within two hours.
With most businesses that would help him conduct a transaction of this magnitude not operating on a Saturday, King departed the Ft. Lauderdale courthouse and returned prior to the deadline to present the judge with two duffel bags containing $1 million in cash to fulfill his obligation to the court.
“I felt like I was Clint Eastwood in a movie, speeding down the highway with a fistful of dollars,” the 78-year-old King said after successfully posting the bond.
King’s attorneys, Robert Zarco and Alex Brito of the Miami-based law firm Zarco, Einhorn, Salkowski & Brito, argued the case successfully.
“Pursuant to the Judge’s Order issued this afternoon, the M.M.A. promoter in question and Ricardo Mayorga are specifically ordered by the court from proceeding with tonight’s previously announced main event appearance by Mayorga in Fayetteville, North Carolina,” Zarco said.
The M.M.A. promoters would be wise to heed the words spoken by Judge Gold from his bench when told that the event in Fayetteville may go on regardless of his decision.
“If my orders are disobeyed, there will be serious sanctions from this court,” Gold said.
In the end it looks like Shine Fights would have been in more trouble then a civil lawsuit from Don King and his production company, they also could have risked defying the judge and possibly lost their license to fight in Florida as well.

Shine promoter, Devin Price, was down in Florida for the hearing and decided not to come up to Fayetteville today after the hearing. And by not being here, as the promoter, he was unable to meet with the AC so the whole show was canceled by the AC. I stood in the hallway talking with Krazy Horse until the crowd cleared out. I was pissed to hear a lot of "fans" blaming it on MMA. And how if this was boxing, the show would have still gone on. Or some such shit.
After we left, I went to watch Ironman 2, so not a total wasted evening.

A couple of big things have come of this fiasco.
First and probably most important, a judge made the decision that all fight sport contracts are the same. Whether you sign for Boxing, MMA, Sambo, or Sumo, you'd better be prepared to either clarify what you'll do for a promoter, and make clear what you will do outside of his promotion. Fedor's Sambo tourneys and UFC fighter's competiing in Abu Dhabi are now at the sole discretion of their contract holders. Based on this ruling, Dana would have a good argument that Lil Nog better not be entering submission wrestling tournaments without written permission.
Secondly, we'll see if Shine can survive this or if they'll fold like Affliction. I certainly don't think the Mayorga fiasco is Shine's fault, but once they got wind of trouble, brushing it off and hoping for the best certainly didn't save their event. Management like that gets what they deserve, sadly fans and fighters get it too.

Yeah man, it was a cluster inside the arena with no solid info being given that day. The "official word" came from the arena personnel and not the promoters so we had to dig around with calls and emails to get anything.
And we actually got word before the "official word" when Krazy Horse came out to the front saying he wasn't fighting because the event was scrapped. He mingled with some fans and then did a mini press conference.
He also said he was no longer Krazy Horse since everybody made money off of Krazy Horse except him, so he prefers Kid Khaos now. Whatever that means.
