Well, then they just need to get those judges that score on crowd reaction, and we'll have another Irvin/Dalla Empire victory!!

Pretty sure I saw Kirwin at the last tourney I was in (they did no gi during the day, then fights in the evening, free for competitors). Other than that, I only really recognize Easton.

I'm looking forward to seeing The Hulk in there again. He's took out chase beebee lately didn't he? He'll be turning the heads of the big leagues soon enough if he keeps that shit up!

I wonder how far into TUF McCray is by the time this event happens? May 22nd? If McCray is still on the show people are going to be killing eachother to meet him/talk to him about TUF.

Who's going to this? Maybe we can get some inside info if we feed him enough drinks!?

YO! I totally missed that Ryan Diaz is on this card! WTF? I've been watching that dude since his early days in TKO! Guy's a beast and don't let his record mislead you, whoever he's fighting is in some serious trouble, the guy's fought the who's who of Canadian MMA in a variety of weightclasses

We'll have had the second part of out inside info interviews with him by then, so I'll get what I can out of him. We'll also be asking about his UWC experiences. From the undercard to special guest. I think will be seeing some more of his Gold Medal Grappling fighters on future UWC cards for sure.

Have they released the event card other than the main and co-main events? That's the only matches I could find on their website..

I can talk about Easton vs Diaz for a long time, but it'd be nice to throw some other matches into the convo. I like the Dodson Riggleman fight too quality co main event.

Former TV Power Ranger Star to Make UWC Debut at Judgement Day

Action Hero-Turned-MMA Fighter Jason David Frank to Fight May 22

Washington D.C. (May 2010) – As an actor Jason David Frank was used to battling alien villains as a star on the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" television series. Now, the former action hero-turned-Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter will battle the real thing when he takes on 205-pound warrior James Handy inside the cage at UWC® 8 JUDGEMENT DAY on May 22 at the Patriot Center.

The California native, now fighting out of Houston-TX based Rising Sun Karate, will put his 3-0 record on the line in a three-round amateur bout against a tough Chicago opponent who is unbeaten in five contests, all by knockout.

"I know I have a target on my back," said Frank, who goes by “Fearless Frank” and is the founder/CEO of Christian-based MMA clothing company Jesus Didn't Tap. "Everyone is going to want to beat up the Green Ranger. But I am no Kimbo. I've been training for a very long time and know how to handle myself inside the cage.”

Frank, an accomplished 6th degree black belt, began martial arts training at age four at Red Dragon Karate, earned his first degree black belt at 12 and opened his own gym at 18. One year later, he put his skills to use when he was cast as the Green Power Ranger “Tommy Oliver” in the popular children's television series "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers." He made 243 total episode actual appearances and 258 character appearances. Frank also stared in the two Power Rangers feature films and recently just finished filming “The One Warrior,” an action movie starring MMA superstar Jeff Curran.

He remained active in martial arts while acting and, in 1994, created his own system called "Toso Kune Do" which incorporated numerous fighting styles. He made his amateur debut last January earning a first-round submission. Frank plans to turn professional in the near future.

UWC Bantamweight World Champion Mike “The Hulk” Easton (Lloyd Irvin Martial Arts, Washington, D.C.) defends his belt against dangerous cage veteran Ryan “Lion” Diaz (Arizona Combat Sports, Phoenix, AZ) in the show’s Main Event, while high-flying featherweight John “The Magician” Dodson (Greg Jackson MMA, Albuquerque, NM) squares off against undefeated Jesse “Mountain Man” Riggleman (MMA Institute, Harrisonburg, VA) in the Co-Main Event.

Many of the region’s top fighters will be showcased on the 10-bout card, including Easton’s teammates Timothy (formerly Reshad) “The Good Soldier” Woods (Sterling, VA) and Ron “Choir Boy” Stallings (Baltimore, MD), local female favorite Iman “The Predator” Achhal (Capital MMA & Elite Fitness (CJJ)/ Sterling, VA), Justin “The Butcher’ Hickey (Lloyd Irvin Martial Arts/Gold Medal Grappling, Woodbridge, VA), Jeremy Carper (MMA Institute, Bunker Hill, WV), Caleb Macalister (Team RAM, Lynchburg, VA), Dustin "The Disciple" Pague (MASE MMA Academy, Sterling, VA) and Joey Kirwan (Clinch Academy, Baltimore, MD).

Look for celebrity guest appearances by Kris “Savage” McCray and Jamie Yager from this season’s Ultimate Fighter (T.U.F.) series on Spike, World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) superstar Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and former UFC/current WEC contender Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia.

Naw, it's only his second fight, and yes 3 minute rounds and no elbows to the head I believe.

If he was pro and taking tough opponents just because he was the Green Ranger that would be foolish. In northern VA we've got a lot of solid pro shows where guys like McKray, Britt and Baker racked up 10-0 records getting ready for professional fights.

I was talking to Marco Ruas about his nephew who did that and regretted it. Having the Ruas moniker got him dropped into the deep end of the pool, and he wasn't ready. It showed on his record.

I'm sure he's getting paid to appear at the show, but the fight is still amateur. Smart move to get experience without the pressure of pro fights.

Easton vs Diaz off.

Washington D.C. (May 21, 2010) – Ryan “Lion” Diaz, challenger to Mike “The Hulk” Easton, has been diagnosed with parotitis, an infection that blocks the salivary glands causing swelling and pain, that will prevent him from competing at UWC® 8 JUDGEMENT DAY on May 22, UWC CEO S. Marcello Foran announced today.

“Ryan became ill shortly before or during his return to the States after spending that last two months training in Thailand for his fight with Mike Easton. Upon his return he visited the emergency room where he was diagnosed with infected salivary glands,” said Foran. “We were hopeful that he would recover in time to fight, but unfortunately that hasn’t been the case. I know he’s very disappointed, as we all are that he can’t fight Mike this Saturday night. Both camps understand that these situations can occur and are simply out of anyone’s control. We wish Ryan the best and hope he gets healthy soon.”

The event still has a world-class lineup of nine fights led by the flyweight showdown between Greg Jackson MMA’s high-flying John “The Magician” Dodson and undefeated Jesse “Mountain Man” Riggleman fighting out ofMMA Institute. Former Green Power Ranger actor-turned-MMA artist Jason “Fearless” Frank and top local 145-pound prospect Justin Hickey fighting out of Lloyd Irvin Mixed Martial Arts / Gold Medal Grappling will make their highly-anticipated UWC debuts. Popular UWC fighters returning to action are Lloyd Irvin teammates Timothy “The Good Soldier” Woods and Ron “Choir Boy” Stallings, plus unbeaten female fan favorite Iman “The Predator” Achhal. View the updated fight card at http://www.uwcmma.com/events/#fightcard (http://www.uwcmma.com/events/#fightcard).

Celebrity guests set to appear at the show are Kris “Savage” McCray and Jamie Yager, teammatesfrom this season’s The Ultimate Fighter (T.U.F.) series on Spike, as well as World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) superstar Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and former UFC/current WEC contender Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia.
