Another pro show coming to the DC area, with Pedro "the Rock" Rizzo facing off against Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge. It's 1999 all over again!

The rest of the card looks pretty solid with a lot of local up and coming talent.

Check back with us for more coverage.

Anyone headed to tha show?

Gordon Machado vs Jordan Smith is also on the card. That's a good fight.

Lots of guests promised, Ken Flo, Babalu, Demian Maia, and the ever popular Mannie Moore.

awesome fight. if these guys are still going to be fighting at old ages, they need to fight each other. i like the matchup. Rizzo probably beats him. Goodridge looked horrible vs Gayhard.

The King of the Streets ? I remember watching him foot stomp the crap out of people and thinking it was the greatest thing ever. Goodridge looks huge.

Meeting Marco was a highlight of the night for me. I loved his run in the UFC. He was the first well rounded fighter I remember. His chopping down Varlens was one of my favorite MMA moments.

If the past several years have taught us anything it's that Pedro Rizzo is going to have another near death experience.

Crax texted me to get the results of Jordan Smith vs Machado. It was a great fight. I was driving, and Kid MiracleMan was checking my phone and said you've got a text from Crax. I was like WTF? Then he read it, and I thought Utah.

Anyway, here's the results- a bunch of pics and a review to follow.
Seriously a great event.
Washington Combat Presents “Battle of the Legends” Results

Francisco Salgueiro v Peter Simone- Simone UD
Jahmal McLennam v Chris Buckner- Buckner TKO 2:02 Rd 3
Manny Okorie v Matt Van Buren- Van Buren Split Decision
Gabriel Miglioli v John George- Miglioli TKO :56 Rd 3
Claudio Godoy v Ovince Saint Preux- Saint PreuxTKO (Broken Arm) Rd 1
David Derby v Marco Galvao- Galvao TKO 1:37 Rd 1
Jordan Smith v Gustavo "Ximu" Machado- Smith UD
Gary Goodridge v Pedro Rizzo- Rizzo TKO Rd 2 (failure to meet bell after leg kicks)

In the last match, Rizzo and Goodridge were sort of equal on the feet for the first round, but Pedro grabbed a kick and pulled Gary off balance. He pounded on Gary from on top. Gary survived the round, and in round 2 they exchanged on the feet. Pedro backed Gary into the cage, and started throwing tree cracking leg kicks. This went on for a couple minutes, and after the bell Gary sat on the stool, but couldn't rise without help.

Matt Van Buren took some lumps, but still stayed ahead on the score cards over Manny Okorie.

Okorie could really have taken this one, but he kept engaging and clinching. He was winning on the outside, and when ever he rocked Van Buren he's engage a clinch or go for a failed takedown.

The show was great. Mario and Fernando put together some great matches. The production was smooth as silk rattling through 8 matches with no breaks. There was one questionable call from the judges in the first match, but by no means a robbery.

Rizzo and Goodridge delivered a good main event, both throwing bombs and putting on a show. The end with Goodridge up against the cage was intense. Rizzo and Goodridge would trade punches, but with every comber Pedro threw a tree-cracker leg kick. The bell rang, and when he went down on his stool he could not rise.

The only negative note was the size of the crowd. Maybe 2000 folks in attendance. Not nearly enough for the event they put on.

Getting the word out to folks that events are coming to town is a big problem in DC, but that's why we're pitching the BloodyDCMMA.com site. Hopefully Washington Combat will try again, and deliver a great night to a bigger audience.

It took me two weeks to get in touch with the promoter. This kind of thing happens every time in the district.

UWC is on every episode of TUF and HD Net fights, the banner is coming in to this thread via google. They have had 4 shows and keep coming back. Promoters need to promote, and they always do too little too late.

Apparently we missed the best part of the show. I usually skip the after parties because they are a bust, I guess Dana taught the Yamasaki's how to throw a real after party.

I thought I was the only one, I emailed and called and they finally replied to me a few days before the event.

I have to respectfully disagree, sure felt like a robbery to me ;)

The DC judges could use some serious training in my opinion.
