5 years ago in May, I was charged with mail fraud when I was working for an opal importer.
He was a friend, well, client, of my fathers at the time and needed someone to take care of in town business relations when he was in Australia (his home country). I took care of mailing out information to our distributors and setting up conferences to attract new distributors. The distributors would buy "regions", where only they could sell. Little did I know, this importer, I will refer to him as John, was overlapping and double selling regions. It didn't take long for people to figure it out being they ran into eachother quite often. Of course, they came to me. I had no idea what the deal was, so I went to John. He said not to worry about it and he would take care of it. That was the last I heard from him. A week later, the police were at my door, accusing me of mail fraud, being that I mailed out the information packets...per my job description. I told them I had zero prior knowledge of the situation because I just sent the people the information, and John took care of the actual sale of the region. Next, the police confiscated his possession of opals at his house and found that they were real, to an extent...the real opals were shaved and the top layer was placed on a fake stone. This heightened the entire ordeal.
Anyway...I was charged as an accomplice to a crime I knew nothing about. It cost my family a quarter million dollars and almost my fathers clinic to cover court costs to keep me out of prison.
John was found in Australia and exdradited back to the US to serve 17 years in prison. After his sentence is over, he will be deported back to Australia.
I was sentenced to 5 years probation and $250 a month, restitution. They took Johns 3 homes, motor home, 11 cars and some other possessions to cover the rest, they are also docking his pay.
I go back to court in May to see if I still have to pay restitution on this entire ordeal or not.
My father just got a call from him a few days ago, saying that he was sorry for everything that he cost my family and that he would repay us somehow. My father basically told him that he didn't want to be in contact with John ever and to consider the deal closed.

This is an opal,
To get a cheaper version, some people (and this is what "John" did) will take and shave off layers of the opal, then glue one of the layers onto a fake opal, or a semi precious stone. So instead of one opal, you can get 10 from one rock....

Yes, of course. Tom Green was a master of shock comedy and I enjoyed that movie very much.
But if you are implying that I'm a gimmick, I must say, I'm very disappointed at the close-mindedness of all of you. I'm just a country boy that happened to stumble upon these great forum. I work at a balogna sandwhich factory (Sam's Mixed Meats) and have recently broke up with my long-time love affair Jackie.
Pretty soon I'm going to start a MySpace account so I can get some babes lined up.
