Melvin Guillard (44-9-3, 1NC) is replacing Kenny Florian in the main event of UFC: Fight for the Troops 2. Guillard will step into contender status if he can defeat Evan Dunham (11-1) on Jan. 22 at Ft. Hood, Tx.

Dunham is going to choke Guillard out

significant possiblility of this happening given melvin's history for lack of gameplanning, but he's shown some improvement in the last year or so since he started training with the jackson camp. there is also a significant possibility that guillard knocks him out.

With Guillard stepping up against Dunham Cody McKenzie is replacing Guillard against Edwards. I feel sorry for McKenzie I don't know if his one trick will work against a seasoned veteran like Edwards.

I like Edwards in this match-up. McKenzie is scrappy and isn't scared of taking a beating, and Yves will accommodate him with a KO headkick.

McKenzie's got balls. He said if the money was right he'd fight Kos. I hope he got a nice bump to step up to Edwards.

He's going to be mauled.

Oh man, I really like McKenzie/Edwards. I'm all for watching a one-trick pony get picked apart and beaten up.

Guillard/Dunham doesn't interest me as much. Dunham should take it pretty easily. That's a big step down in opponents from Florian.

i don't think this is a cake-walk for dunham. guillard has amazing stand-up and sheer physical athleticism. dunham will have the reach, but he needs to take this to the ground. against the old melvin i would agree that dunham just has to survive long enough for mel to do something really stupid, but like vis said he hasn't done that since coming to jackson's camp. i think this could be a very good fight with dunham just wearing melvin out....or choking him.

i like Guillard in the stand up game. if he isnt jumping into subs he can be pretty tough to beat. 6-1 in his last 7. got subbed by Nate in that loss. cant remember how that fight went honestly. Dunham is good as we've witnessed so we'll see what happens. id say its not an easy fight for either fighter. i like the matchup though.

and why is he 44-9-3-1? Shitdog has him listed as 26-8-2-1. thats 18 less wins...

That's what it says on his ufc profile. The UG has him at 25-8-2.

i find that strange. there is usually a difference on records wherever you look but 18 is alot. dont think ive seen that big a difference before.

probably added his amateur record to help pad it

he may have counted many little local fights that flew under the radar. i'm just guessing though.

Melvin was kicking Nate's ass until he made the bonehead mistakes. Yeah I wouldn't count him out either. Still, Dunham is a beast
