Entertaining as always.

Here's some of my favorite parts:

JW: Is there anyone you want to fight next? Anyone you have in mind?

FG: Well let's see. I want to fight that Ivan Drago guy.

JW: Drago?

FG: Ivan Drago, from Rocky.

JW: Drago, the Siberian Express?

FG: No, the big Russian guy from the Rocky movie.

JW: Yeah, played by Dolph Lundgren.

FG: Yeah! I think I can take him.

JW: You think so?

FG: I don't think he has any ground game.

JW: So you just got a call from someone at Zuffa one day about being on the show?

FG: Yeah. I've told the story a million times. I got a call to come work out with Randy Couture and Chuck Liddell for two months, all expenses paid in Vegas. I was like, 'what'? And they told me I had like two weeks to decide. That was it. I quit my job, put my stuff in storage. I had to break up with my girlfriend, and went out and did the show.

JW: You were basically an unknown before, and now you've become a star overnight. How was the fame from the Ultimate Fighter changed your day to day life, in general?

FG: IT really hasn't changed anything, you know. I guess kinda look at me like, 'didn't we go to high school together or something'? I usually just say yeah we did. You know, the other funny thing is that people come up to me all the time and say, 'congrats Rich, that was great when you beat up Shamrock'. I'm like 'what?'.

JW: 'Aren't you that guy that beat up Ken Shamrock?' 'Of course I am!'

FG: In all seriousness, I've signed autographs as Rich Franklin.

JW: Have you?

FG: Oh yeah.

JW: Acually, if you want to add some cliches to the end of the interview here, you can go ahead and do that.

FG: I'm going to give it one-hundred-and-ten-percent. I'm going to keep on keepin' on. Keep on truckin'.

JW: What about hustle? Gonna show some hustle in training?

FG: No not at all.

JW: No hustle?

FG: No. I might check a guy out and spoon with him.

JW: Is that what you were doing with Bill Mahood?

FG: I want to cuddle. I'm a cuddler. That's my new nickname. The Cuddler.

JW: The Cuddler? It strikes the fear...

FG: The fear...

JW: People won't fight The Cuddler because if they lose, you'll spoon with them.

FG: [laughs]

JW: You'll be like the Andrei Arlovski of light-heavyweight, where no one will want to get in the ring with you.

FG: How about Arlovski though? He looked crisper than I look in the gym or in the ring. I was wondering, dude, do they have Queer Eye for the Straight Guy in Russia?

JW: [laughs]

FG: He didn't used to look like that. He looked kinda normal.

JW: Yeah he used to have short hair and everything.

FG: Yeah, now he has like frosted hair. He trims his back hair.

JW: Well, I'm not going to complain about that. With his back hair, would you spoon with him?

FG: Yeah of course!

JW: You like back hair?

FG: I like mine.

JW: What about his?

FG: It's just kinda scary. He really needs to just quit fighting and go ahead and be the bad guy in every action movie. So, who do you think I should fight? At 205?

JW: Someone who you could beat and have an exciting fight with?

FG: Yeah. But like against a 155-pound Japanese guy who wants to do katas, like the guy that fought Nick Diaz. I would fight that guy if there was money involved.

JW: Babalu?

FG: He's a stud man. He looked just outstanding against Wiuff.

JW: He's really underrated.

FG: He took a year off after that [IFC] tournament win. I was fighting in Brazil before and he was fighting on the same card, and I was thinking I could take that guy. And then year later I said I want nothing to do with that guy!

FG: I'd fight Ken Shamrock at 205.

JW: That would be a pretty big fight. Ken might want outrageous money though. And if you fought Shamrock, people might think it's a rematch with Franklin.

FG: Too true, too true.

JW: Franklin would beat Shamrock two in a row, then.

FG: People would want to know why you keep fighting that guy.

JW: You'd get no credit.

FG: I tell you though, you got guys like... what the hell's his name, the guy who Randy is fighting now?

JW: Van Arsdale.

FG: I don't care if he is forty. I want nothing to do with him.

JW: They don't have a lot of depth at light-heavyweight or heavyweight. There's not a lot of opponent for Arlovski, for example.

FG: I'll fight him. In all seriousness, there's an immense feeling of freedom in fighting a guy that completely overmatches you. I'd go into that fight saying you know what, I'm going to try laying one cross. I'm going to land a cross. Yeah I'll get knocked out, but I'm gonna get paid well for it. I'm gonna land one cross and kick him in the leg hard. I would totally take that fight. It's a win-win situation. Everyone expects to get knocked out. If you get knocked out, then of course you got knocked out! Didn't Patrick Cote daze Tito?

JW: Yeah.

FG: He got props like he won that fight. Just from catching him.

JW: That's true.

FG: What the hell, why not. Kevin Jordan will probably fight again in the UFC because he did well against Buentello. I fought him when we were amateurs back a few years ago. I beat him, but he beat the crap out of me. He tackled me down and I armbarred him on the way down.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to OB Juan again.

"The Spoonman" or "The Cuddler" = Cash money nicknames.

Also, the frosty hair was nice.

It's funny that he wants nothing to do w/ Van Arsdale but he isn't scared of Ken at all. Goes to show what fighters think of other average fighters compared to "legends". Poor Ken gets no respect.

horrible, horrible post.

just horrendous.

seriously though, good interview - always fun to see a fighter "make it" yet stay humble and down to earth. He SHOULD probably wise up a bit and take things seriously before he becomes a joke... but still, good stuff.
