View Full Version : ATTN MP - USB PROBLEMS.
I was fucking around on my motherboard a few weeks ago when I was troubleshooting some problems. Now, my USB ports don't work. I remember unplugging them on the MOBO and I thought I plugged them back the same way I unplugged them, but apparently not. My dilemma is that I don't have the manual for my MOBO anymore and I can't find it online (Matsonic MS8308EP(266)).
Anyway, is there anything I can do short of unplugging and plugging them back in in different combinations? That'd be tedious and I"m lazy.

I take it these add-on USB ports which is lined up like a PCI/AGP card? If so, it's difficult to know off hand what places they fit since you don't have the map of the motherboard .. It usually is very easy to find though, there are not many places on a regular motherboard those USB plugs can go iirc..

Found something that might help:

I'm not quite sure what you're saying. I'm a little lost.
There are these wires (like 6) and they plug into the motherboard and apparently need to be in a certain order. Somhow, I got them out of order. On the little plastic ends, some are labeled "power" and such. I might just have to go through and try out different combos until it works, I guess.

AH! What does this have to do with USB if I might ask? :)
I know what you mean, it's the wires that connect the motherboard with the various items in the case, such as light for power, harddrive working etc.
I'm afraid I have some bad news, there is no trick. Those fuckers are a pain to get into place even with a fucking manual! Hehehe. You will probably see some that fit, the motherboard has tiny writings which should correspond somewhat to the naming on the cable itself. If you can't read it, try with a magnifying glass (seriously). That really should lead you on your way, however, it usually needs to be tinkered with quite a lot before it will work.
It has to do with USB because those wires connect to the USB ports in front of my computer...

*slaps head*
Off course, all my usb ports are built directly on to the motherboard so I don't have to wire them.. Either way, there should be a writing on the mb and on the cables themselves..
There is.. I have to leave suddenly, which sucks because I want to work on this now... If I have any difficulties I'll be back :)
Thanks for the help so far.

usb 2.0 card? Is that like a PCI card or something?
Anyway, UPDATE:
I tried changing some things around and it didn't work. I read that one shouldn't fuck around with that stuff too much, b/c it could mess up the whole MOBO. So, I'm just going to consider the USB ports shot and move on with my life.
I might buy this usb2.0 card that heckyl was talking about.
yeah, its a PCI card with 4 USB 2.0 ports. cost like 50 bucks but that was a while back. im sure the price has gone down.
Sweet ass. I have a few PCI slots open, so I'll just go out and buy one of those..
LEEEROYYY JENNKINS!
