I have been hearing rumors of a Danny Williams/Mattt Skelton fight coming up in the summer. What do ya know about it?

Nothing has been signed but the British Boxing Media have touted the fight and both fighters have expressed their desire to fight each other. Williams is obviously holding out for a massive payday in a match with a returning Tyson. So, I guess Mike will have the final say whether this fight happens or not.
On a side note there has been talk about trying to get Skelton V Ruiz, at the moment I think this is all pie in the sky but if this match was made I would get my money on Skelton ASAP.

He KO'd Michael Sprott (who beat Danny Williams in the fight before Tyson). He also fought Tom Erikson in Pride. The thing about Skelton he has a good chin and he is very very powerfull and very aggressive. At world-class i don't see him as being a one punch KO merchant but I would fancy him beating Ruiz. Ruiz hates pressure and isn't particuarly dangerous, although he can box when he wants. Skelton is a VERY VERY young 38 years old and while he only has a short Pro Boxing career, he has fought numerous times in K1 and also in Pride which says alot about the mans mentality. Brewster or Ruiz would be a very good possibility of a World Title for Skelton or Williams for that matter but that doesn't say too much about them as World Class Heavyweights, it just highlights the deficiency in the Heavyweight division.

Hopefully he is better in a boxing ring than the K-1 ring. But then again, the only time I saw him in K-1 was when he got bombed out in less than two minutes by LeBanner. Not an unusual occurrance in 1999.

I saw the fight, but at the end of the day the HW division is very poor and it's a sad state of affairs when a 38 year old rookie has the ability to win a World Title. Also to be fair to Skelton 6 years is a long time to develop as a fighter and when your fighting motherfuckers like LeBanner at the start of your career, then I guess that has a lot to do with his development.
I'm not trying to build Skelton up more than what he is but make no mistake, if his team get the politics right, he has the chance of calling himself Champion Of The World. This would be a disgrace but only as much as Brewster and Ruiz calling themselves Champion Of The World .

Skelton has as good a chance as any since the HW division is an absolute embarrassment right now. I hope somewhere in the future he fights Ruiz and knocks his head off into the fifth row. He would have a nuthugger for life if that happened.

If someone clashed heads with Ruiz and bust him open and "accidentally" gave him AIDS, they would have a nuthugger for life.
