i want him to retire. i just saw the picture of him busted up. he really took a beating to the face. never do i want to see Saku like that again. its one thing that he is majorly busted up and past his prime. but to be that and get smoked that bad against top competition just doesnt make it worth seeing him anymore. i hope he calls it a career, or at least, fights Tamura then calls it a career.

thoughts?

Dear Sakuraba,
Please retire. I love you as much as any man could possibly love another man without being teh ghey and I don't want to see you killed in the ring. Your time is through.

i never thought id say i want him to retire. but that was just awful seeing him how he was. i know he takes fighting seriously and everything, but hes mostly out there taking on the best because of his fans. taking these beating to entertain. the aftermath wasnt all that entertaining to me.

if sakuraba doesn't fight him or tamura doesn't take that fight, I bet it'd be tamura vs. nakamura

if Tamura doesnt ever take this fight, its a fucking damn shame. some could argue Tamura could beat Saku. i dont know what the fucking problem is.

either henderson or tamura would be ideal retirement fights

he should fight rickson.

Last time a shoot wrestling, pro wrestler turned MMA legend fought Rickson in his retirement match, it didn't go so hot, you know.

A year or so ago I was saying I wanted Sak to fight at 185. I thought he could really do well. Who knows? Maybe he still could, but I don't think he should risk it. To parrot everyone else. Take out Tamura (I think he still would) and then bow out. Please, Sak.

i wouldnt mind him continuing actually if he actually fought 185 in Bushido. taking on bigger guys in LHW and he is naturally smaller than that, he just cant do anymore. probably 1 reason why Igor bowed out of the HW division to LHW. too many bigger people when he is naturally smaller.

yeah, man. I agree on both counts.

And the most disturbing thing is that Saku's shape didn't come from the fourth rematch against Silva, it came from Ricardo "Hump" Arona. Now, I'm not questioning Arona's skills, but he really ain't the most devastating fighter.

A Tamura fight should end it all, he really has gotten off-track on his "road to retirement" by participating in the GP, wasn't that road supposed to be a road of revenges?

Just slap him against Tamura or some Gracie (if he even is shaped to fight anymore, sure PRIDE would allow it, and Saku would fight, but we just saw what happens when no-one says no to Saku) and call it a day.

Fuck calling it a day, he might of got fucked up but I doubt that will stop him from fighting, I think he still has as many fights in him as he likes, a move down in weight division however is essential if he is to carry on, nobody wants to take too many beatings like that.

I dunno about that Nate'o. While we all agree that he would get his ass whopped in 205 against most of people (not including judokas who never have been hit) he really wouldn't be able to go against the best at 185 either.

While he does have the epic feud-ending fights left - the Tamura fight, your token Gracie-guy, Silva (a suicide) - putting him against B-classers at 185 seems a bit dull.

And with Saku obviously being in lot worse shape than earlier, we most likely would not see the flying ding-a-dongs and twisitng-reverse-hurricarana-triangles and such shit.

The point is, does anyone, the fans, DSE or Saku himself, want to remember his final fights as rather boring ones against no-names.

Agreed, if Sak has some personal feuds he feels he needs to deal with, then let him. He's earned that much, but putting him in there against the best at 205 or 185 seems a little pointless and potentially dangerous (with reffing like we saw at Critical countdown) as he is far beyond his best.

Putting him up against lower class fighters seems equaliy silly as Pride should only deal with the best fighters in the world, and bringing in lower ranking guys just for Sak to run over is dumb.

Did you see the fight? Arona turned into Pele in his prime in that fight.

Really? Haven't seen the bugger, I'm waiting for the US version. I got the impression that the initial busting up came in somewhat in a silver platter to Arona, but I gotta check the fight out.

A busting like that doesn't come on a silver platter. He had the front face lock deal, and was kneeing the fuck out of Saku's dome. Then he soccer kicked his face in. He also body slammed him on his face.

Shit, I've allways agreed that Arona is good, fucking good, but not that aggressive (and thus entertaining), but that sounds awesome.

For Arona, obviously. Poor Saku.

Arona has all the talent in the world, if he keeps his game more agressive the GP finals will be extreamly interestsing.

You know, the last five minutes were brutal, but it was a fairly close fight up until then. I really thought Saku had that kimura counter to armbar for second. Don't you guys think he can take the top at 185? I mean the top 3 in Pride, aside from Saku himself are Chonan, Baroni and Anderson Silva. I think Sak would have a great chance against both Chonan and Baroni. Just my $.02

Baroni, Chonan and Silva would sleep Sakuraba at this point in his career.

Baroni really is way too strong for Saku and Chonan is just really skilled.

Now, like I said, I've not seen the fight, last time I saw Saku doing something other than KOing Judokas was against Schembri, and that Saku would be in biiiig trouble.

I'd like to see Saku enter the 83 kg GP...and then retire.

I've only seen wamrage's HL of the event so I haven't seen the entire beating, nor do I think I want to. He wouldn't be guaranteed to win the 83 kg GP by any means, but he would probably do OK and there wouldn't be as much chance of him getting pounded on.
