View Full Version : who will be the first pick in the nba lottery draft?
the general consensus is that the bucks will pick either andrew bogut or marvin williams with the top pick. which one of the two do you think they will take, or do you think they will take a dark horse?

they'll take Bogut
it just hit me that the 6th man of UNC will be going ahead of the other 3 starters of UNC in the draft....that just hit me. he's got a big upside, but it's just weird that the 6th man, will be taken #2
what I like about this years draft is the amount of PG's and C's that are possible 1st round picks. yahoo's mock draft has 2 PG's going in the first 5 picks....but they think that Portland will trade away their pick at #3. 5 or 6 possible centers will go in the first round. alot of teams will definately improve their front court for the future in this years draft.
though this years draft lacks the name and star power, but I think alot of these players will become 6th men or household names within the next year.

I'm guessing that they will take Bogut. Bucks seem like a team starved for quality size.
BTW.....
I've played with Andray Blatche (who went to highschool about 10 blocks from where I live) and I'm extremely unimpressed with his game. I've played with NBA level players before, and he is extremely raw and a very big gamble to take in the first round.
if anyone's got better odds, let me know, i just kinda guessed these ones.

dunno, but I just put 5000 down on bogut to go #1
Mighty Feez, a friend of mine said the same thing about Tayshaun Prince. he said that the guy wasn't impressive when he played against him during his college days in a pick up game of basketball. he said that Prince was too weak and will get manhandled in the NBA....look at him now.
it all depends on which team he goes to and this is the way I see it for most players. the team you play for will depend how good you are or can be
fuck, i don't know how to turn the odds into fractions.
quick someone, what's -250 and +150 turn into?
ok. everything's set. i got the odds from vegasinsider.com.
what the fuck?! i've set the bet close time to 4:30 like 5 times and it still says it closes at 5:30.

Human logic says take the player they need most with with the most NBA ready game...therefore, take Bogut.
But this is the NBA, and Marvin is full of NBA Draft night buzzwords like "potential", and "length", and he plays "above the basket", and so on. So, you never know.
The NBA Draft is fun, just for when people wear ridiculous shit (Gooden, Jalen), for horror stories (Rashard Lewis, Maciej Lampe), for Hubie Brown talking in the second person ("so, you're [insert GM], and you have the 10th pick...you want to take [insert player]") and for the great buzzwords.
Last year, the buzzword was length. Everyone was long. His arms are long, his legs are long. The kids got length. His game reeks of length. He's the longest player left on the board.

Also, my Jailblazers traded Pick 3 for Pick 8 and 26 from the Jazz. Meaning the Jazz are about 99.9% going to take Deron Williams, and 0.1% taking Chris Paul.
Portland will now take two future criminal headcases instead of one in the first round. Hurrah!

Also, Bogut said on radio today. "I'm not a big white stiff. I mean, I'm white. But I'm not a stiff."
Bogut for Rookie of the Year.

will atlanta take marvin williams at #2? that's one of the hot questions now. they have alot of SF's and they NEED a point guard.
how far could williams slip if he's not taken at #2?

I think you are correct for the most part.....
of course you can never predict the circumstances an individual might face, or how a certain francise or members of the francise may influence an individuals development.
using your Prince comparison doesn't carry a lot of weight for 2 reason's. For one, we are talking about two completely different individuals with opinions from two other different individuals. 2nd, there are a lot more guys with potential and hype that turn out to be scrubs, then are successful.
my point is that his skills set is not impressive at all. of course that will improve (how much depends on several factors) but their is a ceiling to his potential. whether of not he catches on as a quality role player in the future is hard to predict, I just feel picking him to highly is a tremendous risk....

Interesting draft note:
My best friend is going on an exchange to Venezuela, and as such, he must host an exchange student. The guy staying at his dad's place, this wild French exchange student named Nelson...he used to play on the French national junior team with first round draft prospect Johan Petro.

24000 going down on Bogut. If I win, that's great. If I don't, I can start a hatred for the Bucks eternally.

Also, can we vote Bogut to the All Interview team already, as he was tearing people up for talking about his "vision problem" i.e. nearsightedness.

I never bought the hype on Bogut down here because the Aussie media likes to jump all over the nuts of ANY Australian (or New Zealander for that matter) who does anything remotely exciting somewhere overseas, however it would seem that the hype is for real on this guy ...
What time does this shit start anyways?
