Ok for those who are not familiar with the up and coming names in Boxing right now, i have decided to do a series of profiles on some guys that will be well known names in the sport within the next year or two. These are not going to be extensive like my other profiles but they will better help you to understand some of the names the boxing regulars in here talk about and hopefully will give you some new guy to cheer/root for. As always contributions from everyone are welcome. I will ask that profiles only be put in this thread. Any comments/requests should stay in that particular thread. Next post will be the first profile

Name: Arthur Abraham
Weight Class: Middleweight
Record : 16-0 (15KO's)
This hard punching middleweight from Armenia will be a force to be reckoned with very soon at 160lbs. He is a vicious puncher who has only been pushed to a decision once, and that was against another highly touted MW prospect named Ian Gardner. Fighting out of Berlin Germany and managed by Wilfried Sauerland, a man who has successfully guided several world champions in the past, Arthur is not known worldwide yet. However he is taking a major step up in competition in his next bout by fighting Top 10 MW, Howard Eastman. If Gardner were to get through the hard punching Brit and defend his WBA International Title(Basically same level as a KOTC title in MMA), he would be in line for a shot at a big name like Bernard Hopkins. I believe he will defeat Eastman and become a future star to watch very soon

Name: Brian Villoria
Nickname:"The Hawaian Punch"
Weight Class: Flyweight
Record - 18-0 (11KO's)
Some of the most overlooked fighters in the sport of boxing reside in the lower weight classes. Flyweight's especially are shunned by most boxing fans. Not since Michael Carbajal has there been an American flyweight prospect that has even garnered any media attention. That will change with Brian Villoria. This former Olympian packs a powerful punch and a great fan base out of his native Hawaii. He has already gotten National exposure with a devastating one punch body shot KO of veteran contender Gilberto - Keb Bas on ESPN 2 and he beat up his last opponent Ruben Contreras so badly that Contreras was sent to the hospital with brain bruising. Villoria is fighting for the WBC flyweight title on July 30th against Eric Ortiz and should he win, he will become a rising star in this business

Name:Samuel Peter
Nickname: The Nigerian Nightmare
Weight Class: Heavyweight
Record: 24-0 (21 KO's)
The heavyweight division as a whole has been lacking in star power for the past several years. From watching John Ruiz clinch and grab his way through one snorefest after another or witnessing shells of former greats like Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson take beating after beating, the heavyweights are at an alltime low in terms of excitement. This is changing with the emergence of Nigerian Heavyweight Samuel Peter. Sam Peter brings one major quality to the table in terms of boxing ability and that is power. He has frightening power which has delivered him some spectacular one punch KO's. His destruction of former HW contender Jeremy Williams last year on Showtime was one for the highlight reels as he dropped Williams with a left hook that bounced his head off the canvas and left him out cold for almost five minutes. Peter recently finished off Taurus Sykes in 2 rounds in a fight televised by Showtime on July 2nd. Sykes has questioned his ablilties in a rather derogatory nature and Peter responded by unleashing a beating on Sykes. He dropped him in the 2nd round after knocking him across the ring with big right hands, leaving Sykes to dazed to regain his feet. Peter holds 3 regional titles now(NABF,USBA, NABA) and should be in line for a shot at one of the major belt holders soon. Win or lose, Samuel Peter adds some much needed excitement to a dull division and is definetly a future star.

http://www.lucianbute.com/images/bute_record.jpg
Name:Lucian Bute
Weight Class:Super Middlweight
Record: 13-0 13 KO's
This young man from Romania is most definetly an up and comer to watch in the game today. He has a combination of good speed and power and is very charismatic as well. Lucian has also faced good competition already for someone with 13 fights. A 4th round TKO win over former WBC champ Dingan Thobela in his 9th fight proved that Bute can adjust to a good level of competition early. Bute is well liked in his now home area of Montreal Canada and fights reguarly in front of good crowds in the Bell Center. With the Interbox management team behind him, who have guided Eric Lucas to a successful career, the sky is the limit for young Lucian Bute.

Name: Sechew Powell
Weight Class:Junior Middleweight
Record:16-0(10KO's)
Another of a slew of exiciting prospects in the 154-168 lb weight categories, Sechew Powell is a fighter on the rise. Based out of Zab Judah's stomping grounds of Brooklyn NY, Powell has gained a reputation as a tough southpaw. Although he has been dropped before in his career, Sechew is a fairly good boxer with enough power to make his bouts exciting. No bout illustrates this more than his most recent fight against fellow undefeated prospect Cornelius Bundradge. This Shobox televised bout saw Powell and Bundradge go down in a rare double knockdown in the beginning of the bout. Powell was unhurt by this and the dropped Bundradge twice more to finish the bout in an amazing 22 seconds! With performances like this, We can expect to see more of Sechew Powell in the future as he is definetly a rising star

Name:Calvin Brock
Nickname:"The Boxing Banker"
Weight Class:Heavyweight
Record- 26-0(21 KO's)
Rarely in the sport of boxing do you find a well spoken highly educated fighter. Calvin Brock is both of these as well as one of the rising talents in the heavyweight division. This 30 year old from North Carolina has managed to earn a Business Administration degree from UNC Charolette, fight on the 2000 U.S Olympic team and become one of the better prospects in the heavyweight division. Brock has in the past year and a half beaten notable heavyweights Cliff Etienne and Jameel Mccline to stamp his name upon the heavyweight contenders list. He has good power in both hands, moreso in his right, good technique and a ton of determination. He showed this determination against Jameel Mccline, as he was dropped by Mccline in the 8th round and fairly stunned. Brock would get up off the floor though and leave Mccline reeling on the ropes as the round ended and he continued on to a unanimous decision victory. Brock should be in line for a world title shot fairly soon, and is definetly a rising star to watch in the heavyweight division.
This thread needs updating.

What ever happened to Calvin Brock? It's like Wladimir knocked the shit out of him so hard, he decided he didn't even want to box again.

I think they found something wrong with his eyes after the Chambers fight and the surgery made it worse to the point he was forced to retire.
We should definitely update this

It happens A LOT! You dont hear about it too much in the press because when it happens the fighters are generally nobodies.
Every gym had one or 2 members that had to retire because of this. Pro boxing is serious.
I only know about my local amateur scene, and kind of the pro scene.

I like the idea of it for boxing/mma/kickboxing, but it would need updated on a constant basis albeit not too often in order to work.....and I believe we aren't supposed to comment at all in this thread to keep it clean for said posts
