I think they offered him a pretty good deal compared to what he was getting on ESPN.

Man, that sucks. I dunno, I never had anything against the guy... he and Russ Amber are porbably the only guys that draw ratings here in canada to talk boxing, so when Max was on the air at ESPN we got lots of friday night fight repeats - not s'much now. Sucks.

I always kinda liked Max and appreciated the passion he showed for the sport....
But I think the man to my left would've liked to have had some words with him (amongst other things), just after he decapitated Max's favourite little ass shaker.

Kellerman made my eyes roll with his Ike Williams being "a good puncher but a bit overrated," and only putting him at #10 on his lightweight list. In that same segment, he put Pernell over Duran at that weight. Citing that a lot of people back in the day didn't want to give Roberto his rightful place at the top of the list, he was acting like it was now time for Sweet Pea to start being recognized as the best--it almost seemed like he was bragging about how he (Max) had the guts to finally say what other people knew, but didn't want to accept. Meh, Kellerman was an all right guy, though. He just needs to shut his trap once in awhile (especially when commentating a fight) and breathe.

Yeah his Sweet Pea and RJJ hugging got old real fast with me. I like his enthusiasm but he is a bit foolhardy in his ratings and observations.

have you seen Pernell vs. Azuma Nelson? What an amazing display of boxing ability. Just got that fight today, it's very rare.

Alf, please tell me that you didn't let somebody convince you it's very rare and charge you an arm and a leg for it. I have a crystal clear copy of that fight, and would have sent it to you for free, man. But yeah, Pernell did his thing and did it well--he made Nelson miss and countered him all fight. Although unlike other victims of Sweet Pea, Azumah admirably kept coming after his opponent and never really seemed to get frustrated to the point of giving up.

I'd have to check on that one...I want to say Eurosport, because I got it from an Aussie buddy. But it's the HBO crew that's doing the commentary, so...

I've never had a problem with Kellerman eventhough his gimmick is a lot like Jim Rome.
BTW, place me in the group that knows what 11523 means.
