I hear there's two schools of thought on this.
Dynamic stretching, which is stretching to the point of discomfort and
Casual stretching, which is light, yoga-esque stuff.
Now apparently according to the show I watched last night, casual stretching is more conducisive for extended physical excercise such as bjj, sparring or jogging. The reasoning being that if your muscles are springs, straining them with dynamic stretching will actually loosen them to the point where they don't return energy, merely absorb it. If you warm them up slightly, like a degree or so increase in core temp. via light stretching, they'll be much more responsive. There any truth to this or was this talk show guy just a douche?
