Hey gang, this is a serious thread so unless you want neg rep, stick to the subject.

I'm currently working on a project on Websites ergonomics. I know this site isn't necessarily the best in that respect (and we're working on that btw.) and I'll be using it as a prime example for my class project.

But I need others. Serious, large well-known websites that you feel just has crappy design and is frustrating to navigate through.

Help a brotha out.

I have a major problem with the way myspace's front page is laid out. There is stuff going on everywhere, and although all the main links are at the top, easily laid out, it takes awhile to move your eyes to the top and see them.

Yahoo is a big clusterfuck as well.

I need things of broader appeal. I'll be presenting this in front of an assembly so all these MMA sites and dating sites won't fly. Think major coporations, worldwide sites, that type of deal.

Cough yahoo cough.

Think, what do most people use Yahoo for.

Games, webmail, and search functions. These should be highlighted, turned into icons, whatever draws you to them faster.

The main page is inundated with information. Little peeks into the news to draw you further into the site, ads, featured services, weather ticker, There are three areas where it tells you yahoo's services....

I dislike going to a website where I have to search around for more than 5 seconds to find where I want to go, in fact, I avoid going to those sites unless I absolutely had to.

statistically - you're impatient. Most people wait 8 to 9 seconds.

University of Calgary website...

You have to move the cursor over the damn tab to figure out which faculty you're about to open up...

Damn right I am impatient, but honestly...3 more seconds isn't going to do much when what I am looking for, isn't highlighted to any degree.
If the words blend in with the rest of the text, it makes the entire page difficult to navigate and hard on the eyes.

This page frustrates me too. There is so much going on around the page, that I miss the links to the school's information, mid screen. The main links are also in a darker color, causing them to fade to the back a bit.

I would submit comcast.com - not so much design as for intent. If you click 'Get Prices' which is what all potential customer want to know first, basically, you arriver here: https://comcast.com/Localization/default.asp?Referer=/Buyflow/default.ashx. Notice that they don't ask you for your general area to check available services, they want your exact address (you can make it up I'm sure, but still...) and the 'Remember Me' checkbox is preselected. That's just too nosy for me. I automatically don't trust them.

Too much information...

Too crowded...

Looks too similar so you can't tell shit apart...

Also the font sucks...

It reminds me of JTT posts actually...

The side frame needs to have another font type. A serif of some kind.
Where it says, see more, in all of the categories, this needs to be exemplified somehow. Automotive, baby and clothing all run together it seems as a group.

Also there aren't any models for the women's underwear section...

There's a generation of young males that may grow up without ever having jerked off to a sears catalog!!!!

While it is a simply designed page, which in most cases is a good thing. The page barely advertises what they want it to, their food. The tabs on the top move around too much when you move across them, and don't properly tell you what the tab will do once you click on it. Making it extremely hard to find something that you aren't sure which category it would be in.

So I threw another school up, it wasn't as if it was the same school, or even a school in the same country. I put it up because it is on my favorites list and it is one that I have to look at every day, and become frusterated by every day. Quit your damn whining and move along.

I think the Ikea site is a bit hard to navigate, not the worst I have seen by far, but, the differences in languages makes it a little tough. Also, along the left side frame, they would preferably have descriptions of what is in each of the categories...possibly by a pop up box whenever you moved your mouse over it.

Unfortunately, I have to bookmark pages that piss me off....they tend to be part of my daily life.

Good luck with the rest of your homework :)
