...after 2 years of being a die-hard ESPN fan. I guess EA pwnd Sega, so I have no alternative this year. And for your idiots that are die-hard Madden fans, check out ESPN 05, I think it's still better than this new Madden. If not better, then just as good.
Anyways.
First impression was the graphics. Look way too cartooney and blocky, but I guess I'll get used to that. I booted it up and they took me to the new QB vision mode. Now I was apprenhensive about this initially - but it turns out it's pretty cool and will be fun in multi-player mode. I find being the QB usually it's pretty mundane when playing with your friends. Unless you play with a Micheal Vick or something - you basically snap the ball and press a button. Then you watch your friends play. Wow. Anyways, I was worried about having a HLed area to represent your "cone of vision" thing. I don't like graphics on screen that kill the realism but it's well handled. Though the default madden receiver icons are HUGE. jesus. just color code them or something. So the system works well on both sides of the ball... in an exhibiton game I played the Ravens versus the Patriots and totally fooled the D. Boller's cone is about as wide as bakedogg's GF's vagina, so it's pretty obvious where I'm passing right? I got Mason lined up on a deep post and I'm tracking him all the way. My bud drops his linebacker into coverage to pick me off, leaving Todd Heap wide open up the middle. I shift my focus real quick, beam a laser to Heap and he turns the corner, stiff arms the safety and boom - 79 yd. TD!
Patriot 63, Ravens 7! REPRESENT!
More impressions coming soon. Overall I think it's much meatier than ESPN's game, but the graphics and presentation of ESPN were way beyond Madden.
Oh, and EA's choice of music is the balls. Gimme the damn jukkebox anyday.
