Okay, so one recommendation for the first album and pretty much luke-warm feelings, at best, otherwise. What metal are you guys into? Morbid Angel? Suffocation?

I used to be into it, when I was 13/14. Put it that way.
Gimme about 10 minutes and I'll put one of their finest songs ever on here (off their first album of course)

I am hurting for new music right now. I'm not really sure what you're into, but I have been listening to Killswitch Engage, Haste the Day, Shadows Fall, Zao, and Underoath

Thrash Metal from the 80's/90's, and Norsk Black Metal. Death metal kinda bores me. But a few bands are worth a listen.

My tastes are all over the place. Metal is one of the few genres I haven't really given a fair shake, though, so I'm looking for a good place to start. I've heard a little bit of the bands I mentioned above and was blown away by Suffocation's drummer. That's a guy you don't want to give up the mount to. He'd deliver about 8000 punches in half a second.

Yeah, I'd be more into speed than blood. Sometimes death metal 'singers' make me laugh because they sound like, well, you know when people do that burpspeak? It's like someone doing that with a mouth full of bile.

Hmmmm......I'll have to check out Suffocation
This would be "sic" song 2 off the first album, and is probably what set their career on fire.

They're definitely death metal, but they're still a nice spectacle.
