This is it. we have some true sports guru's on the bloodyknux crew. lets try to keep the questions limited to the big sports that everybody knows about. Rules will apply here -

1 - When you answer a question, please have a question to post in return.

2 - this thread isnt for whoring, but for fun, sports trivia, and bullshitting about sports trivia.

Since it is currently baseball season, ill start off with a baseball question.

2) yes! once upon a time member of the KC Chiefs. sheehee was pre-season all Pac 10 then got injured.
3) correct, correct, correct. all those plus byron hanspard of texas tech who i believe did it during troy davis' senior year. so two guys in the same year fall into that.
4) you named him in the last question. first and only, troy davis
5) eric kresser, wuerffuel's backup at Florida.
6) pretty close, 406. actually accomplished against UTEP in the last game of the year BEFORE he was a heisman contender.
7) i should have said including QBs, because i meant david klingler. not including QBs i would assume it's tomlinson, but with return yards someone like napoleon mccallum could sneak in there.
8) not randle el, dantzler, vince young, or tommie f. but beau morgan, late of air force.
9) i think wilt was playing before freshman were eligible. chris jackson (later mahmoud abdul rauf) at LSU when he averaged over 30 a game.

3 ) Antoine Walker, Walter McCarty, Scott Padgett, Tony Delk, Ron Mercer, Derek Anderson, Nazr Mohammed. 7 for me too :(

1) Drew Henson, Brian Griese, dunno

.

Don't know that I'd really say he backed up Henson. They shared time, but Brady always started.

bingo 1 and bingo 2. between '93-'95 herman moore, sterling sharpe, jerry rice, chris carter and even terrance mathis engaged in a war over the record. rice and carter both hit 122 during that period but moore won out with 123 in '95.

former viking page is currently an associate justice on the minnesota supreme court and set a state record for most votes in his last election. unbelievable academic and athletic resume.

mark whiten was the last to do both during his 1993 season with the cards. a 4 HR and 12 RBI game! even with that stat-padder he finished the year with a respectable but not overwhelming 25 HR and 99 RBIs, hitting only .253.

Mashburn.

That makes me wonder if there was ever a team that had more than that? Hmm...although I really doubt it. Eight's really high.

Edit - What am I thinking, Mashburn was gone by then. The other guy is Mark Pope. Played briefly for the Pacers I think.

*Padgett was ineligible that year. Also, Jeff Sheppard (Hawks) and Wayne Turner (Celtics) played in the NBA. So the total number is actually 9.

Now that I think of it, I can think of one other team that had 9 future NBA players. Can anyone name the team and the players?

I know North Carolina about 97 or 98 had Jamison, Carter, Stackhouse, Rasheed Wallace, and more, but I was freakin' twelve then. If there are any more you guys know, chime in and see how many we can come up with for that team

yikes, let's see here (FYI, pope was the other one i knew. wasnt aware turner and shep made the league).

i've got 92-3 duke with seven i know: laettner, hill, hill, lang, parks, hurley, and davis.

i'm going to reach and say you might be talking the '94 heels that were stacked then got the early ouster by B.C.

ummmmm, rasheed wallace, jerry stackhouse, jeff mcginnis, eric montross, george lynch, donald williams, derrick phelps, zerge zwikker and shammond williams perhaps, not sure if they were a year later. that must be them, though the exact combo you came up with i'm not sure.

You guys are both close. It is a Tar Heel team, but not the years you mentioned. It's actually a little before the Sheed/Stackhouse squad.

Hey Tauvington, can you think of any good boxing questions? I'll try to come up with some as well.

Sure, here's a few...

1) What former LHW belt-holder made a successful title defense by registering a knockout with one second remaining in the final round?

2) How many undisputed heavyweight champions were never defeated in the ring after engaging in their first professional fight?

3) How many times was former WBA 140 pound titleist Ubaldo Sacco officially knocked down during his 8 year career?

4) What former heavyweight champion was knocked out cold in the last round of a fight, saved by the final bell, and ended up winning by decision.

Lol. It's not a team that most would think of, but the '90-91 Tar Heel team actually had nine future NBA players.

The players were...

Pete Chilcutt, Rick Fox, Hubert Davis, George Lynch, Clifford Rozier, Eric Montross, Matt Wenstrom, Derrick Phelps, and Kevin Salvadori.

This college basketball naming reminds me of playing Stump the Schwab at home, pausing the DVR, and having a contest to remember the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers offensive linemen.

OK. So I've been thinking about these for about a half an hour. This is what I came up with.

1) Victor Galindez / Richie Kates

2) One. Marciano

3) Not sure about this but once? Sacco/Hatcher 1?

4) All I could think of was the Joppy/Eastman fight, but that was middleweight and was slightly different. Hmm…Botha maybe?? I don't think that's right though.

1) Victor Galindez is indeed the correct answer. Good job.

2) Actually, no. This was a trick question, and I can't give you any hints that wouldn't give the answer away. :o

3) Correct.

4) Nope, not Botha. This guy actually retired before Botha was even born.
