Well tonight i want to talk about one mr Roberto Duran. A lot of folks still get down on him at times for No Mas against Leonard and wrongly so. I watched his welterweight fight against Carlos Palomino tonight and this man was just pure dominance in this bout. He had defended his lightweight belt twelve times before his move up to welter and was takking a risk in fighting the tough vet Palomino. Duran just aboslutetly dominated from the opening gun. He would not let Palomino get the space at all to set up any sort of attack throughout the fight, punishing him on the inside. For every one hard shot Carlos would land, Duran would answer with at least two back. Palomino resorted ot a lot of holding in the bout because he had no answer for duran's relentless approach. Roberto did a great job to me of cutting the ring off too as it seemed he kept Carlos on the ropes quite a bit, yet again effectively limiting his attack.Palomino also tasted the canvas in round 6 and by the time the bout was over had a swollen face as a parting gift. This was a truly dominant performance by Duran and IMO he won 9 out of the 10 rounds very easily. He was truly a joy to watch in his prime era.
