is there any good drills or instructional videos for training your footwork? I have terrible coordination plus I saw an old video of tyson training by punching this little fucking bag and then just bobbing out of the way and stuff. Probably noone will know wtf I am talking about but hopefully I can get an answer for the first one

He was punching what's called a doubled ended bag probably. I don't know any specific footwork videos, but the most basic advice I can give you is to not cross your feet ever. If you want to straffe to your left, step with your left foot first ect.

Well, thats good advice but maybe he wont understand the small parts.

If you wanted to step to your right, you will want to move your right foot, but you will want to push off your left foot, and when you are done the movement you should always be in your stance.
A good way to check your balance after you sidestep is touching your back knee to the ground quickly, just to let yourself know that your balance is still good.

Just remember to push off with your opposite foot in the direction you want to go, much like when you punch you will want to push off your back foot.

Pretty much everything has been said..

Skipping rope and shadowboxing all improve footwork.

For a big guy, I have good footwork. I played sports every since I was a little guy, so I'm sure that helped me, but the above definitely won't hurt. Just spend about 20 or 25 minutes every day on it.

At my boxing gym (not mine really, I don't own it) the coach has everyone walk in square in front of a mirror for their entire first week. Right, back, left, forward. All day, for 4-5 days straight. Just goes to show that this is the fundamental base of all fighting. Good footwork is the boxing as shrimping is to BJJ.

A) He doesn't watch for long, he just wants you to get the motions

B) I have never done it. I'm a prodigy

what he was using was a "tear drop bag" or slip bag, it was a tool invented by Cus D'amato and the idea is to slip the fist sized bag and throw combinations as it swings back. for footwork all you really can do is jump rope, and practice good technique in the ring. also, everything you do including the mitts, you need to utilize the footwork so make sure your coach is moving back like a real opponent would in a fight.

The only thing I'd add is to step with the lead foot and drag the rear foot behind you, that is if you want to go left step with the left foot and drag the right foot behind you, as to keep your stance planted. Try to think of movement directions like a clock, in addition to moving foward (12:00), back (6:00), left(9:00), or right (3:00) you can move in on angles as well, with 8 directions total.

There are pivots and shift steps and all that but the step and drag and the 8 directions is a good place to start and train in isolation. If you really, really stink at moving your feet there are upper body movements that can help curb that suckiness.

Everything that snownigga said above but to add on it the foot that ur pushing with, ie the lagging foot is also half dragging on the ground rather than stepping. it all combines to give ur entire body a rhythm, the steeping shit u want to eliminate because it takes away the rythm. If simple footwork is difficult for u (as is my case) u should try just dribbling a soccer ball around, passing it from one foot to the other to gain max control over the ball and hence ur feet
