Add your favorite cardio exercises here...

I want to try to compile a database on different cardio exercises so people don't feel they are only limited to running or jump roping.

I want exercises that are geared towards MMA, but I guess anything can go.

Top 5.

Non Traditional Cardio Exercises:

5. Swimming

4. Heavybag Intervals - 3 minutes on heavybag and during the 1 minute break, drop down and do a set of sit-ups or push-ups. Not much strength can really be gained, but the idea is to push yourself to the max. Also, this simulated an actual MMA fight where you'll have lulls in action, but also intervals of intense action. The bag portion is supposed to simulate the intense part and the sit-ups or push-ups are supposed to simulate the lull, as you won't be able to put a lot of effort into those exercises after minutes and minutes on a heavybag.

3. Sprawls - Not only is having a good sprawl necessary for MMA, but I find it's a great way to get the heart pumping. If, for some reason, you don't know what a sprawl is google it.

2. Buddy pick-ups - A variation of an old wrestling drill, actually. Shoot in for a takedown on your friend, pick him up and sprint across the mat with him. Sit him down and then jog back and do it all over again.

1. "Iron Man" drill. When I was preparing for my fight back in Feb. my trainer put me through a lot of these. For continuous 5 minute rounds keep sparring. Everytime the timer goes off, have a fresh, new body to come in and face-off against you, who is tired as shit. This blasted my cardio more than running or jumping rope ever did.
