bloody communities

In an effort to organize ourselves and support our local bloody MMA scenes, why not build bloody communities? If we have people within reach of each other, why shouldn't we get together and form local bloody networks that can be the lifleline of our current and future local bloody sites? that way we could have several people covering different areas of a state or region .

Worst case scenario...we get together to throw back some adult beverages and watch some fights.

I like the idea, and it's certainly been cool visiting BKers all across the US when we travel.

It would be nice to know where all you crazy bastards are.

If we could get dead Hunter S Thompson to write for us on the shows in the afterlife, that would be a coup.

I wish I knew more about vBulletin, I've got to be able to figure out a way to get these local threads to pop in their own area, and in the main forum.

Books, what's the backstory on this?

Before my time, and probably most of all'yalls time, Sherdog actually had a fight night where like 8 random dudes from the website (there were only like 20 dudes on the website at the time) somehow put together an amatuer event and fought each other.

The night of the event Matt's opponent having read our interview suddenly found himself sane and decided not to show up to face the Thing. Me, being ever full of brilliant ideas(see my user name), asked Sharp if he wanted to hop in the cage. Without hesistation, he jumped out of the beer line and went to see the doctor for a med check. I don't know if this proves he has balls, or is certifiable, but we'll go with balls since he's family.

So Sharp weighing in about 50 pounds less than his chiseled opponent steps in the cage with Chivo as his corner. The first 45 seconds were legendary. Stephen jumps in with a flying superman punch (pictured), and catches Matt flat footed. He then lands a solid high kick to the side of the Thing's head that buckles Wilchinski's knees! The crowd goes wild! Everyone is standing, and Matt reverts to his base scooping up Sharp and slamming him to the mat.

Here's where the story goes horribly wrong. It's Matt's first fight, so I don't blame him. It also happens to be the promoter's cousin's first time reffing apparently. Matt starts dropping bombs and Sharp scrambles to try and shrimp out, but Wilchinski plants him, and Sharp is pressed into the corner eating leather. He turns giving his back, and Matt start raining down elbows to the back of Stephen's cabasa.

The ref starts whispering, "No punches to the back of the head pretty please. No really you shouldn't do that. Please stop...." Stephen is knocked out, then awake then out again! Finally I'm not sure who stopped the fight, but Chivo rushed the cage ready to throw the icebucket at the ref.

In came the doctor, and Stephen, stunned and battered answered, "I can't move." when the asked if he could get up. Of course the paramedics came in and strapped him to a board and took him to the hospital with Chivo and my wife. The show stopped until they returned, and Matt felt horrible. Sharp was fine minus the obvious brain damage e exhibits to this day and the much worse beating he recieved once he got home and said "Honey, you'll never guess what happened tonight!"

Good times...

Sorry, didn't mean to derail the thread with ancient history.

We've had several BK gatherings, usually in AC. A few years ago an event was something special, and folksngathering for the first IFL, or the first Pride event in Vegas wasn't unusual. Rachel and I have had the pleasure of meeting folks everytime we travel, and using the forum to really get a handle where we all are is a great idea.

If nothing else it lets me know who's where when a press credential oppurtunity comes up.

Someone find an interactive pin map we can link to. We had one, but it looks like the link is long dead.

No biggie. It was cool to hear some of the old stories, get some of the history, and the crazy stories are gold.

I think the map idea is a good one.
