Weidman has now piqued my interest. I was doubtful about him before but he looked great against Munoz. Excellent finish, too. I think he'll still need another fight or two before getting a title shot, though.

Coming off surgery it's hard to say how he was doing, but it wasn't his elbow that failed him for sure.

I'm on board with giving Weidman the next shot FOR SURE. I knew he was a top prospect and future champ but I thought he'd need more time to develop. I'm a believer after tonight. We got another Jon Jones on our hands.

Weidman is very dangerous to Silva. He's Chael Sonnen + finishing ability and even more passable stand-up.

His sub game is certainly more dangerous than Chael's GnP. His takedowns might not be as good, but you wouldn't know watching him plant Munoz.

I think the only question I have is how good was Munoz after the layoff?

Not to detract from Weidman's performance but Munoz looked like he simply slipped into survival mode every time he got horizontal. No doubt thats partially because Weidman is that dangerous but Munoz seemed fundamentally content to lay there and do what he could to not get finished from second to second. Weidman basically got to style on a wrestling dummy for 80% of the first round.
