Personally I enjoy fights where two skilled guys put those skills on display. Sure they were a bit conservative, but it was far from a staring contest. Not every fight is going to be Shogun/Hendo. They showed patience, skill, explosiveness, and in Faber's case heart.

Actually I think the sport just finally caught up with him. He was this explosive tasmanian devil, but once he lost the belt he became conservative.

I'm a big fan. He's one of the nicest fighters I've met, and I was really hoping he'd get one final moment of glory, but he doesn't believe in his offense so he doesn't have an offense. You can't win fights just showing how tough you are.

I think it is the quality of fighter. He can still blow up some pretty good fighters, but the elite have him by the balls.

Fuck Lombard's stupid over-hyped ass. I knew he would suck. That being said, Boetsch sucked even worse and I think Lombard squeaked that one out.

Faber is tedious. He almost never entertains. Hell most of the lighter divisions bore me to death, to be honest.

Or maybe MMA is just boring now to me. Seems like for every barnburner, there are 10 mediocre to horrible ones. And the good ones seem to be getting scarcer.

I only saw the last 2 rounds of Lombard/Barbarian, but I thought Lombard won them both. God, those were a shit 2 rounds though.

Faber fight was pretty good. Barao looked damn good on the feet.

I'm with you but I think it's a function of too many cards. I find that in an average card there's only 1 or 2 fights that I'm interested in and I can't be bothered to give up a night and $50 for 1 or 2 fights.

Plus most of the time the free Fox cards have the fights I want to see.

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of, but I'm cautiously optimistic that more fights will move over to Fox, resulting in Fox cards getting stronger, resulting with better and better fights on free network tv and PPVs becoming fewer and fewer.

Boetsch won't be fighting anytime soon, broken foot. Dana being pissed at life also put all MW plans, that were supposed to be announced today, on hold for now.

Faber will stay at 135, doing... doesn't know exactly what. Barao will fight whoever UFC says... no shit champ.

Referees suck. Judges suck. According to Riddle, UK sucks. Kongo and Johnson are also apparently on the shitlist.

Just a lot of negative energy out there.

This really was one of the worst main cards in modern history.
There may have been more boring ones, but at least they had more important meaning to them.

I can't remember a worse main card for a very very long time.

Lots of great fights in the pre-lims. We were all talking about how lack luster cards often deliver, then Cheik Kongo and Shawn Jordan entered the cage and it all started going down hill.

Lombard vs Boetsch should have been grand and if flopped miserably.

Faber and Barao was also a stinker. You could pick one round of Faber vs Aldo and watch it at half speed and you'd have the same fight.

On what level did you ever think this fight would be 'grand'? Boetsch is fucking shitful and Lombard is an overrated gorilla. It could have only gone one of two ways - either Lombard was going to rush him early for a premature stoppage or we were going to see the fight we saw. Either way, it was always going to suck and did suck.

It was a technical and tactical fight with 2 world class fighters.

Faber was losing the fight and he did SHITALL to try and change that. As someone said, he doesn't look as dynamic and wreckless anymore.

So even if the fight was decent, it was still lacking in excitement and I didn't feel like either fighter was really pushing to win.
Barao was winning, so he didn't have to change anything.
But I was really dissapointed in Fabers performance.

And as the highlight of a slow main card, the negative energy from the previous fights stuck with it so I felt totally uninterested in how the fight developed.

For me, this is why the fight wasn't very good. It felt like a sparring match. Don't get me wrong, Barao was throwing powerful leg kicks and one of his knees broke Faber's rib. There was some good action at times, but overall, according to my memory now, it was mostly Urijah feinting and Barao landing about 10 leg kicks spaced out over the course of 5 rounds.
