I used to love Sci fi growing up, so I'll share a couple from my youth that I suspect you haven't seen, but are good.

Enemy Mine: I saw it when I was like 7 or 8 years old on VHS. Haven't seen it since, but I still think about how much it influenced the way I think today.

Strange Days

Videodrome:

Fortress: Sci fi prison flick. I have a soft spot for this flick. (and Stuart Gordon's other stuff, especially: Re-Animator, From Beyond, Dagon)

ATM moment I'm getting Sunshine, Videodrome, and Predator 2. Because I've been meaning to see them for a while.

Some great ideas in there.

Dark City and Videodrome are two of my favorites. When you watch Dark City think about how it looked from William Hurt's perspective. I think they really missed the boat not making the beginning more a film noire detective flick that breaks out into the Matrix.

Videodrome is a bit dated, but really one of the first flicks to embrace sado-masochism as a theme in the flick, plus it has Debby Harry. I can't begin to explain what getting a copy of the flick in betamax did to my 13yo brain.

I prefer Sci-Fi Horror flicks and would recommend everything Cronenberg has done. Shivers/They came from Within is the beginning of his biological horror style and pretty twisted.

I'm also going to throw in Wrath of Khan as it's pretty fucking epic.

Mad Max/Road Warrior (not all that Sci-Fi, more post apocalyptic action, but Squabbs includes Clash of the Titans so whatever.)

Some off-beat classics I'd recommend-

Soylent Green, Day of the Triffids, The first two takes on Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Clockwork Orange.

That is a fun movie. More of a comedy but a treat for sci-fi fans. Also Sigourney Weaver never looked so good.
