Nate isnt easy to finish. Bendo caught him flush with some good punches and kicked him in the head pretty hard too. shots id say that could finish people but Nate doesnt have a normal chin. its just the competition hes been fighting lately. when you win a belt, or even get upto contender status, you start fighting tough dudes. and it becomes harder to finish people off.

I wasn't talking about the Diaz fight in particular, but generally.
Benson has a fantastic skill set, but besides a really nice Guillotine he doesn't really have a finishing move.
He wins because he is the better fighter overall, he might not be the better striker or the better grappler, but he is the better fighter because of the way he puts it all together.

And as fresh as he usually is at the end of a 5 round fight I often feel like he could've pushed the fight a little harder.

He keeps the pace up and you don't want to be to aggressive against dangerous guys at this level and as you say, it is hard to finish guys in modern MMA when everyone is so damn good, especially in a deep and diverse division like 155.

I just feel like he could be even better and exciting with a few more explosive sprints mixed in here and there, to summarize.

its got a ton to do with the level of opponents for sure. like Merlin said, dude isnt coasting. hes trying to hurt people. and does. he kicked Nate in the face pretty good. its too bad his chin is so good. someone else might have gone to sleep, or at least been rocked enough to get finished off.

Yeah, I guess so.
It just leaves me with this sort of unsatisfied feeling to see him have so much more to give and it was even more apparent in the 2nd Edgar fight.

But I guess you guys are right, I just wish I could see a little more fire and intensity from him sometimes, he is a bit to cool in there to really get me excited.

Winner of cerrone/pettis or gil melendez. I don't really see anything else at 55 making sense. Gray and Lauzon both need another win to get into contention, and everyone else who hasn't left 155 and still under the Zuffa banner are a notch below the "untouchable" 155 talent not under Zuffa (chandler, alvarez, aoki, kawajiri).

Get the melendez deal done now, book that immediately, and let the winner take on the winner of cerrone/pettis.

Edgar is pretty much the only fighter whose opponents I happen to have zero problem with when it comes to coasting. Reach and height advantage is to Jon Jones as Judges are to Edgar.
