Could be a few different things.
First, check your proxy settings. Lots of companies use proxies and you won't be able to see any sites unless you plug in the right address into Internet Explorer. Also, how do you know you have connectivity? go to start/run and then type cmd. After you do that, the command prompt should appear. Type ipconfig and see what it says. If you see a bunch of 0's (in other words, you don't have an IP) then you don't have connectivity and there might be a DHCP issue.

That happened to me once. It was a problem with my IP. Apparently someone (don't know who) had changed it to static or whatnot and not to automatically change.
E NOTE: That was my 1,000. I'm out of here. |

If you have access to the Internet then it could be a DNS problem. Open up a browser and go here http://68.142.226.55/. That should take you to yahoo.com.
Let me know..

Does 127.0.0.1 work if you put that into the browser (think thats the right number to link to your own pc). Also try sending an e-mail to someone else on the SAME network and looking at the header on their PC to check what IP it is giving.
2 cents

I'm pretty much clueless with networks mate, but it sounds as if it's either not sending out the data packets and or preventing them coming in. TCP/IP stuff. My guess is with a firewall setting blocking the wrong port or something. Check the firewall settings and compare them to the other Pc's on the same network. If your getting an IP the next most likely thing will be the Port number has been altered.
I guess MadP or Crax will know. Good luck

UPDATE ...
I had many people look at mine, to include individuals whose job is information management in the military (computer people), and they couldn't get me up. Then I was on CQ one night and all of a sudden I tried the IE for some reason and it recognized the page. So it fixed itself perhaps.

Those of you who know alot about networks may find some good software here.
http://www.download3000.com/showarticles-179.html I know little about networks. I do know there is a lot of money in working with them tho. You will find some well known Ping utility software if you search a few on Google. Someone may know some names, I am a little hammered tho right now. You should put a floppy disk in with some match sulphur it it. Many years ago I heard it will light! CD burners may be even more powerfull?!?

Alright, I tried to connect my desktop to the wireless connection in our flat. So I connect the wireless USB adaptor and one of the steps it prompts me to is to disconnect it and connect it to the router or whathaveyou. Problem is that the fucking router doesn't have a fucking USB port; no way to connect it. BUT, my boy has a desktop, and his wireless USM adaptor has always worked. NOTE: The USB adaptor I tried on mine was the one that currently works with his.
Suggestions? E |

ummmm i have never seen a USB wireless adapter that required you to plug it into the router itsself... why the fuck would it need to its just a receiver. thats strange... you havent tried to just fuck that step off and try to connect to your SSID?

well when you hookup a usb adapter for wireless, if installed correctly, it should automatically bring up networks in range. so long as your router is broadcasting your SSID (network name) all you do is right click on your wireless icon in the system tray, and goto view available wireless networks *xp* or connect to network *vista* and it you can just pick your wireless network and double click to connect. thats really how easy it should be to get going...

Negative. Whenever I insert the fucking Adapter to my machine, it does absolutely nothing. I may go to Target real quick and buy one. Does it come with any software at all or supposed to? Maybe I should hit my machine really hard and that will make it work.

spitting at it usually works too. thats what my dad does when he cant get a webpage to load. yeah they usually come with software as like a wireless manager. i never use the software though windows manages wireless networks better if your just using simple encryption. you might want to find out if your wireless router is broadcasting the SSID. if its not, its not gonna find anything. you will have to manually enter the network info and such

Negative. Now I need to buy two [2] wireless adapters. The one that was working on the other machine, fell into a fucking cup of crystal lite, and that was that. Fucking kaput. Insanity.
