UFC targets Texas for expansion in '07
Ultimate Fighting event in the works; mixed martial arts soars in popularity

UFC is headed to Texas.

As part of an aggressive campaign to expand the flagship brand of mixed martial arts, Ultimate Fighting Championship likely will stage its first event in the Lone Star State early next year.

"We have plans for either Houston or Dallas in early 2007," said Marc Ratner, the former executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission who joined UFC in May to spearhead regulatory efforts. "Texas is a hotbed for mixed martial arts. We have to find the right time for it, but we are definitely going to bring a show to Texas."

What suprised me the most is that he says the UFC will have over 20 events next year...

And MMA fans will have no money... I can't remember the last time I had a cable bill without a PPV charge on it.

I pay a monthly fee of 18 bucks to get all UFC events live, (fight+), so they could have 50 PPVs a year for all I care...

Well, with the UFN, TUF finales, and PPVs, I guess it is possible. Still alot. Not complaining though.

Yeah, I heard pretty sure thing that there is gonna be 11 PPVs next year.
And 2 TUF Finals is a sure thing.

Then probably 4-5, maybe 6 UFNs.
And if the HBO deal happends, probably 3-4 or thoose.

And then the UFC is going to Europe, and are gonna do a UK version of TUF, dont know much more about that though, but wow.

Im imagining hearing that they might need another one, Joe cant keep up with filling theese many cards or something...
