I arrived mid-way through the 2nd round last night, my damned cable company fucked up the PPV so at 10:15 we scrambled to the local sports bar...


what the hell did St-Pierre do to deserve a 10-8 in round one?

He didn't actually deserve one, and none of the judges actually gave him one, it was just Eddie. He had some good jabs landing, a couple axe kicks ... He definitely dominated the action and won the round, but it wasn't a 10-8 round.

yeah he beat on Miller the whole fight actually. miller had nothing for him. the 10-8 was lame though. dunno what it was all about.

Okay I must have missed that. I got to watch it for cheap at a friend's which was cool, but it sucked that they wanted to be loud and talk about dumb shit which made it hard to pay close attention.

Did you guys see the weigh-in?

Miller weighed in at 172# and then he took out his platinum grill and ended up weighing 171#. At the post fight conference him and GSP were sitting right next to each other....pretty cool imo.

my guess: miller isnt cocky; he's selling himself. he gets a fight in the UFC against arguably the top WW contender. i think from the beginning he knew he most likely wasnt going to win. so why not 1. act like a jackass (the platinum grill thing made me chuckle) 2. put on an exciting fight 3. proved he was a tough bastard by taking a beating.

i bet he gets back into the UFC based on these things.

My favorite moment of that fight (and watching St Pierre is always a blast) was when Miller (on the ground) tried to lock up GSP's leg (who was standing), St Pierre twisted out of it, Miller tried springing to his feet with a flashy looking nip-up, but got kicked and put back down by Georges while attempting that show-off stunt. I don't think it landed flush, but it was still amusing to me.

Rush absolutely dominated him in the first. He almost ripped his arm off and was constantly landing blows. If a 10-8 round was awarded then it was deserved if you ask me. I think that 10-8 rounds in the ufc should be awarded more frequently. If a guy clearly wins a round in dominate fashion then give it a 10-8. If a guy barely wins a round then a 10-9. That would make BS decisions less likely. For instance under my scoring in Ortiz vs. Belfort round 2 would have been a 10-8 round for Belfort and made the fight a draw instead of a win for Tito. Fighters need to be rewarded for trying to finish a fight instead of just trying to win rounds.
