Wand wants Belfort and 'Minotouro'

Less than 10 days away from the Pride Middleweight Grand Prix first round, Wanderlei Silva is making the last adjustments for his opening bout against Hidehiko Yoshida on April 23rd. However, he took a little break and chatted with some fans via the internet from Curitiba, where the Chute Boxe headquarters are located. Asked what are the opponents he would love to face during the GP, Wanderlei Silva did not waste much time.

'Yoshida, Vitor Belfort and Rogerio Minotouro' said the middleweight champion. About these three fighters selected by Wand, Minotouro is the only one he's never faced. While he defeated Yoshida in the Pride GP 2003 semifinal, Belfort was responsible for the single TKO loss in his career, during the UFC Brazilway back in October of 1998.

The fans wanted to know if Wand thinks that Mark Hunt, who defeated him by judge's decision at Pride Shockwave 2004, is capable of conquering the heavyweight belt. 'Yes. He is a good athlete and if he improves his Jiu-Jistu skills he might be able to get a title shot' says Wand.

About friendship outside the ring, Wand told the fans that it is very difficult to develop a friendshly relationship. 'Everything happens so fast and because of that I can't name a friend, but Rodrigo 'Minotauro' is a guy who I usually talk more to' confesses Silva.

What is going to happen to Wanderlei Silva after his retirement from the rings 'I intend to open an academy and get focused on it. May be I will help to organize some big events and turn MMA into a mainstream sport in Brazil' ends the champion.

I find it odd that he is friends with Minotauro and has even invited him to train at Chute Boxe and yet he wants to pummel Minotoro. Hmmmm..

I would absolutely shit my pants in disbelief if Wandy/Vitor 2 went past 2 minutes in the first Round. I hope it happens, but Vitor will get destroyed very likely.

I think Wand might be being a bit ambitious, although I think he will take Yoshi there's also a chance that he will be beaten, I don't think that it will be an easy fight for him at all unless he gets a quick knockout. It should be an exciting match because I doubt either of the fighters will want the fight to go the distance whatsoever - Wand coming of his last defeat to Hunt and Yoshida losing via decision in their first meeting.

I hope he knocks Belfort out if it comes to it, i'd rather see Overeem go through to the next round but the fact is more people would rather see Belfort - Silva2 at some point, and I guess i'm one of them. Just so people can realise the difference in the calibre of the fighters, I just don't understand why people still think Vitor could take him. Look at it from this perspective, Vitor vs Cro-Cop? Vitor vs Hunt? I doubt he would make it out of the first few minutes in either fight.

i fucking love silva, the only fighters that even come close in my nuthuggery are sudo and st. pierre, but i think it would be funny as fuck if vitor knocked him out in under a minute again.

i really dont think Vitor can take Silva again . Silva will bring his A game and will TKO Vitor in the second round .

Don't count Vitor out. He looked absolutely brutal in the 1st rd against Ortiz. If Silva can weather the storm I think he'll take him out in the 2nd. Vitor's never shown a good gas tank and Silva can go forever. Silva via 2nd rd tko or Vitor via brutal 1st rd beat down. That is if they end up meeting in the GP (which I and a shitload of others hope do).

This is a rematch that's just itching to happen. I don't think Tito will EVER dare step into a ring or octagon against Wandy again, but Vitor might. Could prove for an interesting fight, but I really don't think Vitor can pull it off. He'd need to be back to -97 -98 mode to do it, and I don't think he can.

I agree w/ Nate here. I'd rather see Alistair advance, but I'd like to see Vitor/Wand 2 just to shut the Vitor nuthuggers up that are clinging to that one shining moment in an otherwise average career.
